>Griff apparently said that 95% of the emails he got were positive
Griff must be drinking. Reminds me of MSNBC this morning which contended that O's speech had received a 78% approval rating. Their sample was everyone working at MSNBC.
Griff's email account:quoting that 95% of his emails were Positive tells me that mostly, if not all , the emails he receives are from his Mother and/or DonoHoHO. Both of his contentions are full of more crap than a Christmas goose. |

At one point in time, Griff actually had some credibility. But that was before the feedback from sellers changed.
Then he started on the "all buyers have to do is pay for their item, to deserve positive feedback"
And..."Sellers who wait until the buyer has left feedback, are retaliatory sellers"
At which time, he became the official Minister of Propaganda for eBay. |

Back several years ago when I was on another site... I got into a discussion with another seller about when to leave feedback.
My stance was ... when the buyer pays within TOS, then his job is done. And he should have fb.
Now should there be a problem with the item, the buyer should take it up privately with the seller, wrong item, lost in transit.
My opponant felt that the buyer should leave feedback first, because he had had some bad feedback from buyers.
Neither of us won or lost. We were just having a good debate about it.
The feedback is only to grade the trading partner on performance. Not to kiss tail or win friends or influence anyone.
What exactly is the buyer's obligation in making the winning bid?
What is the seller's obligation?
And the feedback should be reflective of those obligations being met.
And thats it and all it is supposed to be!!!
added... but somewhere along the way, someone decided to get something for nothing and to hold feedback as hostage and be vindictive. |

Many sellers held back giving feedback, until the buyer had received the item and any problems had been taken care of.
After all, according to eBay, feedback was one's view of the transaction as a whole, not just whether someone paid or not.
There are many things a buyer could do after paying to warrant a less than positive feedback. Such as...
Filing a false chargeback claiming unauthorized use.
Filing an INR complaint the day after paying.
Calling the seller daily at all times of day or night demanding to know exactly where their item is.
Wanting to return an item because the color is a shade lighter/darker than what was in the picture.
Wanting to return an item because they are tired of it.
Wanting a refund, yet being allowed to keep the item.
Filing an SNAD complaint and returning their old non-working video gaming system, in place of the new one you just sent them.
The examples given are but a few of the situations sellers have had to put up with.
Since feedback is supposedly each party's view of the transaction as a whole, it any of the above happened to you, do you really want your buyer's feedback to read....

As I put in the end ... but somewhere along the way, someone decided to get something for nothing and to hold feedback as hostage and be vindictive.
Those really are not the norm. They really are the exceptions.
and they do seem to hit in waves. I've watched wave action like this happen in various aspects of life for a good number of years. Not in just selling online. |

I recently put some Limited Edition artwork that I have not listed in quite some time on EBay, as a few collectors have contacted me lately.
I sold a couple this week both for over $400.00. When I went to check the FVF fees I was shocked to see only about 5% in FVFs ? both sold for $425.00 the one that was an auction was 19.99 in FVFs and the store listing was 22.00 FVFs.
At one point I quit selling these prints on EBay as the FVFs were to much to cover, however these seem to be in the neighborhood of 5%
The only thing I can think of is my 20% discount as a TRS. I thought they were taking this out at the end of the billing cycle? Even so the numbers do not seem to match. Any Ideas? |

Until April, the fees go down as the price goes up, at least on the auction item. |

Ebay have just announced another load of price increases on the Ebay motors section in the UK (I don't know if the fees in the US will rise as well).
I often look at Ebay motors,I want to buy another ex london cab and an old Jaguar or Rolls but I've noticed there just isn't the number on there that there used to be,this latest round of price increases wont help to swell the numbers. |

The cost of 30 day fixed price listings for non-store owners is going from 35˘ to 50˘.
How is that a reduction? |

How is going from 3 cents in store inventory for 15.95 to 5 cents with a 49.95 store, a raise in FVF from 12 to 15% in media a price reduction. And don't tell me getting listed in core is a plus, as I sold unique items and core was and is a waste of time...it's mainstream crap available at walmart, best buy and China.
And the kicker, since 2/20 when the core thing is supposed to have started overall visits to ebay are down 25% at least for me.....I see the future and it is not ebay, not for small and medium sellers.....been here close to 8 years, and each year gets more disgusting, ebay gets greedier and greedier....maybe the insurance companies bought them out....(joke)l...RatherRuss is currently RatherFrustrated...anyone else seeing this trend, higher fees, lower visits, hence lower sales??? |
