By the way...I also purchased my first auction item off an alternate site this weekend. I figured that would be another way to support the boycott, not just to list elsewhere, but to buy there as well. It felt good knowing I was contributing to someone else's success away from eBay!

I haven't got started on my listings there yet, but I think I will go ahead and sign up for the lifetime seller account. It can't hurt. I haven't got the link in my siggy yet.

james8812 - I have purchased 90% of my online 'items' away from eBaY for 3 years! I 100% agree that we need to rethink our shopping, browsing and buying habits. If it's a big-ticket item and / or I have to, I will shop at eBaY, but that has changed and there are more buying options than before.

For the write up relating the ebay changes to align or follow Amazon and/or Walmart, I agree. There's quite a bit of information flowing and hard to know what's from a 'good source' vs. speculation, but the changes announced this year IMO are indicators of that.

I do know that many small sellers are upset by the fees. I know that sellers of all sizes are upset by the feedback changes. I also know that any of us that use PP on EBAY are concerned about the hold. And of course - that which we've not discussed greatly, but may actually have the biggest 'unknown' impact is the new search process.

I believe that all these changes have an impact - but the one that is discussed the least and may have the biggest impact is the search methodology they are rolling out.

Congrats to all who are looking, joining and listing at alternative sites. Any off-ebaY sale is usually more revenue in 'pocket'!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Very Happy James, JB & I feel that it is one of the BEST ways to (not only)
support alternate sites, but support the strike/boycott efforts as well.
In the past 5 years, we have probably purchased 900 items, including
Yahoo & Amazon (from alternate sites). Most were from very small sites, however.
I guess most folks (here) are also aware to take the same precautions that you should at any site, ask seller questions as needed, and ask their former FB history, if not clearly available. The MAIN point we wanted to make is:There is FABULOUS buys available in alternate markets!! Go see!! Very Happy
Lana & JB

Hey Erin,

I searched ebid on google products and it brought me to this page...

http://www.google.com/products?q=ebid&btnG=Search+Products&hl=en&show=dd

I did follow the first link and ended up at ebid...

http://us.four.ebid.net/perl/auction.cgi?auction=1167005083-29077-0&mo=auction&from=froogle

Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but hope it helps!

Howdy CuFF! What I was wondering is if you could:

- Go to the ebid us site.

- Pick some items that are in stores.

- Search for them on Google Products.

So - specific product searches for ebid items. I searched about 20 and could not find them.

Make sense? Surprised Surprised Laughing Wink

if they are not placed in auctions correctly they will not show up in google it`s sooo simple which is why i am trying to help other sellers but i cannot do this alone , i need help in letting sellers know the best way to list items like the seller from america he came to the forum did research and it got him/her that important first sale , people need to know that we are willing to answer questions

I'm in extending the boycott also.

Before the boycott started I had been buying stuff at ebay even though I was not selling there any longer.

SO LISTEN UP ebay SELLERS who can not afford to join the boycott. PLEASE find an alternative site (one with no listing fees if needed) and start listing some of your items there as well. With time you should be able to increase your online sales or even be able to leave ebay all together (some did starting back in 2005).

Give BUYERS a choice and you might just be surprised at how many will buy at other venues because they are sick of the ebay b.s. also as I am.

Hi all! It is sad to think that all these years I have been "eBrainwashed" by eBay to think that was my only option. I was so oblivious to all the other sites out there.

I am so glad I found this site and got my eyes opened! Smile There are probably still many more people out there like I was, chained to eBay. We have to keep getting the word out.

I know everyone can't leave right now, some are dependant on eBay. But what is going to happen to them when the rug gets pulled out from under them? They need to know there are alternatives! If not they will be sitting ducks!
