That's right...I said there probably won't be another one, just a slow leaving...probably more like a steady stream of permanent boycotters hopping off the ebay train.

I opened my ebay store at the end of last Nov. Made power seller in about 6 months and have made my 15% discount 2 of the past 3 months. I don't think that a Boycott will work until there is a viable alternative. I have started listing on ebid but to give you a comparison, in the past week I had 81 items on ebay which resulted in 24 sales. I had 62 on ebid without even so much as a bid. Some of us need the income and can't afford to just not list. I have decided to close the store and I have sent several emails to the powers that be about why I am closing the store. And in the real world I still need to pay the mortgage.

Unfortunately, I was really needing the ebay money too. But I can't handle the strain of wondering if they are going to hold my money. I would rather do something else than have that fear and worry.

It has made for a financially hard year.

I'm a former Power Seller that hasn't listed anything since June '08. Sure, it hurts. But it's the principle of the thing. I listed a few things on blujay but nobody even looked at them. I'm trying eCrater now. If my items can be found on Google, I'm hoping it will take off and things will start selling. eCrater seems to have a lot more items listed overall. What I want to say is, let's just be patient. There are way too many "alternative" sites out there right now and we are split between them and the buyers haven't found them yet. It will take time, but one or maybe more will rise to the top of the list and Ebay will just be a bad memory. Keep the faith, guys.

I am with you Sonrisa. It make take a long time, even, but I want to sell online and am willing to be patient.

It would have been great to have a viable online business from this point forward (as was happening with ebay), but I am learning a lot. I just have to wait longer for it and may have to work a "job" again for a while.

Quick suggestion guys.

Wherever you GO.
Take some of the budget you would of used
with eBay to list, to run some PPC ads with Google.

Seems like most these 'little guys'
aren't willing to do that,
(or can't afford to)
so you got to do it for yourself.

OR, take some of your budget and open your own website. We are doing it for $6.95 a month with Zen Cart and www.chshops.com. No listing fees, no final fees and great support, even for pc dummies like us.

I have been including flyers inside my packages explaining to my buyers the impact the DSR's are having on sellers. Although they have all provided 5's, my ratings don't seem to be climbing much. With 100% feedback on over 2,000 transactions, I was not eligible for any discount in August. Yes, I believe that something is definitely haywire here.

I am also making a slow, but steady move to ebidz.net which seems to be a really great alternative to ebb. I paid $49.99 for lifetime fee and then 2% FVF on gallery auctions - $1 and no FVF on Featured Auctions and they even have a FREE option for listing. Please feel free to check it out, as they also have "buddy rewards" http://us.nine.ebid.net/perl/normal.cgi?ref=RusticHillbilly&mo=register-main

I really loved eBay and don't understand their "thinking" I have done well, meant some very nice people and was probably one of their most loyal buyers/sellers. It's like a divorce, filled with hurt, bitterness, betrayal - well you get the message.

I have cut back my listings dramatically - used to have a store with over 600 items...now, I am down to about 80 and will continue to decrease as I can.

Regretfully, that is exactly how I feel about the alternate sites I have been supporting for the past four years, since I closed my eBay store after the first fee hike and boycott. I was just thinking last night that it was like a divorce; and then today, I read your message!

I have tried several alternate sites since leaving eBay; but unfortunately, the sales and support have been few and little. So in late May I decided to break out and opened my own website at ChShops.com. ChShops.com is a new online Mall; and 50+ independent stores have opened there in the past three months, with more coming online every week. The support is great and the store owners are wonderful. Check it out.

Wherever you decide to hang your hat, I wish you the best of luck!

Hang around this forum and look at threads relating to Bonanzle, ebid, ecrater and others. Each one has its merits and people like them for various reasons.

I have tried a lot of them and find Bonanzle the easiest to work with. Other folks like ebid because they ship a lot to the UK and Europe. Others like ecrater because they ship globally to parts of Asia that ebid doesn't reach.

Hi CF and All,

It's nice to see that this thread is still alive in support of those Sellers who have been thrust into a sea of confusion by ebay.

I've just had my first two sales at Bonanzle! It's a great site with excellent customer service. Atomic mall is pretty slick, too. Personally, I feel that these two sites are the ones to watch. They've entered onto the scene at just the right time. I'm signed up at Atomic Mall, but not listing there just yet. I'm still getting comfortable at Bonanzle, which is growing bigger and bigger every single day! There's a counter displayed on our My Bonanzle pages that keeps a running total of new members. I've been doing this since 1999 and I've never seen growth like this before, so it's pretty exciting! They have some really unique features there. Bonanzle is free for the time being, and I believe you only pay a FVF at Atomic Mall.

If you look at OLA (onlineauction.com) there are a couple of things to know. No matter how many people try to get you to join as a Founding Member, don't do it until you've given it at least 6 months over there. Just pay the monthly $8 if you decide to try it. Be advised, some have had problems getting OLA to stop charging their credit cards after they've closed their accounts. Just a heads up, not trying to start a fight. Wink

Good luck everyone!
