Ghandi wouldn't have wasted his time whining about something that people do by CHOICE.
Worthy causes were his thing. |

It worked with the Golden Compass movie. It's earnings were in the toilet because of a boycott. Boycotts can work. |

LOL!!!!!
"The Golden Compass" had mediocre box office intake because it just
wasn't that good a movie.
But you go ahead and keep thinking that a boycott made one whit of
difference. |

Why do you negative people even care about our boycott? Why waste your time telling us we are wrong. I'm sure you have more important things to do. Obviously you aren't going to change our minds and we aren't going to change yours. What is the point of being negative. If we somehow are a success you would benefit from our efforts. If not, then oh well. |

Because, believe it or not, I actually do feel a bit of sympathy for you folks who are running around, chasing your tails, thinking your David and eBay's Goliath.
All I have seen here is how it is going to affect profits. If that's the case, since I assure you a boycott WILL NOT work (history tells me so), you all would have time better spent focusing on your own websites and pulling your eBay customers to same.
Bottomline...the negativity isn't toward your efforts, it's directed at the stupidity that abounds here. |

If the boycott brings us all together then it's useful. It's selling somewhere else and making a better profit that we want. And here, we're sharing ideas and helping each other do that.
There's a lot of people here that know what they want to do but don't quite know how or which direction to take. They need advice and even some technical help.
A lot of ebay sellers don't like the fact that they've become dependent on ebay for their livelihood and now ebay is pulling the rug out from under them. It's not funny to be sitting home with a cellar full of stuff you bought at last year's estate sales and not being all that sure if you're going to make a profit on it.
Helping each other is what this is all about. I think a lot of people here are just sick about what's going on and they need encouragement, guidance and to feel like they're not alone. |

Then why waste your time coming here. Why not go to a message board that appreciates your negative attitude. I don't understand why you feel the need to come here an try to knock everyone for standing up for what they believe in. Last time I checked this place was called Power Sellers Unite. A place for people to help each other. Not knock each other down.

How funny It took more energy to type what you did than to sign the petition!!! Some people just like being a pita to those who want to make change for the better. Probably comes from unresolved issues from being beaten as a child. Kinda like finding a hair in your soup. Don't you have something more worthy to do than try and hinder the under dogs taking on the big machine? You are like furniture in the house when the house is on fire and people are trying to get out as fast as possible...Just in the way!!! |

You can't handle my negativity? Well, I can't handle all the damn whining you people do in the name of being positive. You're just as freakin' negative as I am. The only difference is you wanna whine about how somebody else has done you wrong and how you gotta find somewhere else to fix it.
All the oh-whoa-is-me-ebay-is-so-greedy attitudes here make me as sick as I'm sure my "negative" attitude does all you Chicken Littles.
Oh, and may have taken me longer to type that, but at least I'm not leaving my mark on another flopped attempt to teach the big meany auction giant a lesson.
If you all don't like the big bully (aka eBay, for you slow ones) on the playground, find somewhere else to hang out during recess. Preferrably one with lots of trees for y'all to hug while you whine.
Dee
P.S. Beaten as a child? No, but not overindulged either to the point that I think the world (or in y'all's case eBay) owes me something. My mommy and daddy also made sure I got a good education, one that included Economics. |

You are the one who came here, don't llike people doing the right thing and standing up for themselves...Go somewhere else.
Ocasionally in observing the problem and seeking a solution to the problem, someone else comes along and becomes a problem in creating the ssolution to the problem. Then they become a sidetracker and a seperate problem. Usually in a corperate meeting , these people are politly told to leave.
As for it making you sick...You must LIKE being sick or you wouldn't be here.
You are right, you are not leaving your mark on the flopped attempt to teach ebay a lesson. What you have done is leave your flopped attempt to hinder the people on this board who are actually willing to stand up for their rights and not be run over by the giant steam roller. That is the mark you left...A hinderance!
If you don't like the discussions here or the work being done here to make our solution work, then go somewhere else. Or is it no one anywhere else likes you either because of your going against the grain attitude?
If you are so highly educated...Why are you here bickering to the wind with unwanted attitude...Don't you have someones taxes to do or a science project to finish or something to go micro-manage?
And, if you don't like this arena of solution to problem, then go find another arena...preferably one with pungi sticks, razor wire, and cattle prods where I'm sure you will be very happy |

Well said, i just came from the ebay forum SIGN THE PLEDGE _ NO SALES FEB 18-25! that is widely known, it seems alot of sellers here are turning on eachother unlike there where most everyone is united in their frustration and spreading there word about these changes, i think few people realize that everyone will be effected. And for those who dont think so should read what ebays new CEO said about how we all are to flea market for his tastes. But i dont want to get this forum hotter then it is, i just hope everyone looks at the facts before they call a boycott pathetic or call a buyer a lesser person for not agreeing with the boycott.
Take care all and good luck with the changes! |

Ya' know what? People gotta' do what they think is right. If a week long boycott makes sense, then by all means, enjoy the week off.
I've been through 2 boycotts. eBay is ready for them when they make these announcements. They announce after the 4th Quarter; the prime selling season. Then they make another adjustment in July/Aug; right after a great many sellers have purchased their Q4 inventory. Once most dissident sellers experience a long dry summer season outland, they're hungry to make some income and scuttle back to eBay for Q4.
eBay did not reduce insertion fees and do away with gallery fees because thousands of us boycotted in 2005 & 2006. No. These changes came about because sellers LEFT eBay. Many were able to shutter their stores and immediately go elsewhere. Many more have been able to transition their businesses over 12 - 24 month periods.
Two years ago, eCrater barely had 100K items. Today it's up to around 600K. Quite a few smaller venues have enjoyed steadily increasing inventory. Think eBay didn't notice a permanent drop these last couple of years? It's on the charts, go look for yourself.
eBay has called me on more than one occasion, asking where else I sell, what my future plans are, etc. They made precise notes. I stopped talking with them early last year. Stopped answering surveys, too. It's not just in-house info., they're getting ready to roll a lot of sellers into the IRS - but that's a whole other story.
My point is, boycott if it works for you. But spend the time that you're not immersed in the eBay culture to invest yourself in a different channel(s). Search for your own product line in Google, Yahoo, MSN - the same way customers would find you - and figure out which venues are showing up so that you can review alternative sites and start diversifying away from eBay. Look into various independent store solutions.
Anyone remember GlacierBay DVD? A $15 Million Dollar Power seller? Read Randy Smythe's interview and learn why waiting to diversify can be fatal.
Sellers are faced with two choices. One includes eBay as the core of your business plan and one includes eBay as an additional channel in your business plan. Whether you boycott or not, the real issue is YOUR business. |

This is EXACTLY the reason a boycott may not work, although I hope it does. All this infighting among us further helps ebay, not us. If some of us REFUSE to give in to ebay and support other selling venues, who is to say that we won't benefit? I have been listing on alternate sites and have made only 2 sales so far, both on ebid.net. But I will not give up. For me ebay has been an uphill battle from the start. I have had listings removed for no justifiable reason on ebay, but I did not quit. I have even been suspended and fought back. I won. I was reinstated. I have seen over and over again how ebay treats people. I refused to quit.
I have weathered the storms and have perservered. I am by no means a big seller on ebay or anywhere else, but I have managed to make a little money. Free enterprise is what made this country of ours so great. Please do not abandon that now.
I am still trying to sell on ebay, but it just keeps getting harder and harder. In my humble opinion ebay's new exec's have no idea of what it takes to even source products that will sell on ebay. They have never had to actually compete with all the other sellers there. They do not know what it is really like to compete against THOUSAND'S of competing seller's and their items.
Ebay's ace in the hole is traffic. Until alternate sites can draw legitimate buyers the only option we as seller's have is a boycott. Ebay may have the traffic, but what is traffic without without listings? Just my 2 cents worth. |
