Just a quick update: I pulled out the server from the datacenter this morning. I changed the power supply and brought the server to the garage. Temporary it will be running from there. It is sitting on an empty carton but at least it is up and running. I am expecting to get a new motherboard tomorrow so hopefully by the end of the day I will be able to bring it back to the datacenter. I will try to minimize the downtime as much as possible. Most probably the power supply caused the problem but it might also be a bad motherboard. Hopefully it is just the power supply so that the site stays up and running until I change the motherboard tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding.

Garage? I love it, it has a Bill Gates quality to it!

If it is needed, I for one would happily contribute to a Donate tab.

I am still just finding my way around Ecrater, but when I enter my item descriptions in Google, I am right at, or very close to the top of the list.

Mr. Dimitri, if you need cash to keep going, just yell. You have something good here.

Hey, PayPal started in a guys basement. Thousands and thousands of folks trusted an unknown person with their money and never thought twice about where it was located or anything else for that matter. Never thought about what happens if the guy just disappeared. It could have easily happened.

I could care less where or how things are done as long as it works. OK, maybe if it was being operated out of a prison cell I might think twice - if I knew that's where it was.

Most of e-commerece businesses are operated out of a place most people would think twice about walking into if it was a brick and mortar.

All I care is that it's working! Where the equipment is - I could care less.

Yep Bill Gates and his friends started in a garage too.

WOW - just think - we can all say we were a part of that (eCRATER.com) in the beginning, when we see Dimitri on the news as the next zillionaire! LOL

Please don't misunderstand. I'm an ecrater fan!

I just thought there would be a back up server so all is not lost or down. I don't care where he keeps it, garage or kitchen. :) I just hate when I lose a bunch of listings. Seems that hasn't happened however...so GOOD JOB!

Jo - some technology groups have backup servers, some technology groups do back-up to disk or tape. Rest assured, there are backups of our data - at all sites.

Usually, the issue isn't if they exist, but how often they are performed. Most small to medium size companies back-up all data at least 2ce daily. Large corporations back up data every xx seconds/minutes.

Having a second server isn't necessary to have a backup strategy - make sense? :D

BTW - I listed a few things and have had no issues!!

Erin, yep! As you can tell, I'm technologically challenged. And from the old school. 2 is always better than one. :)

Thanks for explaining.

Excellent, Wes!

I have some NEW stuff coming in that I bought at a trade show. Garden stuff, fun stuff. Will put some of that on the crater and see if it goes.
