| Can anyone recommend a good free website place so I can create a jewelry website for myself that I can update as necessary? I would prefer one with not too many popups and such. And...did I mention I'm html illiterate? So EASY would be good! :) |

Wagoo is the one I will be using. But you pretty much have to have html knowledge.
Here is a place you might want to try:
http://www.findmyhost.com/
You can search for sites that have everything to no frills. Some have html editors others don't.
There is another site that has the whole community thing going on. Last time I tried to login , they were doing some major maintenance though.
http://www.freewebtown.com/
Hope this helps!! |

Check out http://blujay.com
Absolutely free. No pop-ups. You can use the PayPal buy now button
for all your items with one click in your seller preferences.
Items are automatically listed by category and subcategory in your
store. Items are automatically listed in Froogle.
I'm somewhat surprised that we havn't already seen a mass exodus
from iOffer and Bidville, over to blujay.com
I'm guessing its just a matter of time before iOffer and Bidville fade
away as most of their sellers move to blujay.com |

I don't think she was looking for a venue...just a free web site to build her own site.
I hear LoudFrog is pretty cool too as an alternative to IOffer |

Blujay will be the one fading away into the sunset. Listings are stagnant...not growing. They won't use a bulk lister....why would larger sellers want to move THERE?
godaddy.com has a quickcart shopping cart that looks VERY nice, for about $3.95 a month if i remember correctly. Very nice offerings there.

blujay.com or ecrater.com
i don't know of any good ad free webhosts(that are free) to make a page from scratch.
www.ace-host.net seems to have good rates if you buy a year or more at once. |

Hiya sweetie! How you and Lady Lana doin? Give that fair lady a hug for me, will ya?
"Publishing" a site t'ain't nothin' fancy. luv.
Your web host--is the company that you buy the web space from.
Your web page is like a big ole billboard you get to draw yourself. You can do it any old place that feels right to you. PSU has that HTML editor over there to play with.
When you're done fixing up that page like you want it, you "publish" it. This means you go to your web host & log in. Upload the file you made to the directory your stuff belongs in (which is named the same as your domain, by the way).
Once you've uploaded it..... IT'S ALIVE! LOL
Don't that sound alot like the process for writing & posting auction listings? You can use backgrounds, pictures, links, blah, blah, blah. Leave the super fancy stuff for the youngun's. I can't even remember what I had for breakfast today. ROFLMAO!
A few things to learn, true. But it always helped me learn faster & teach my users faster if I could relate it to something they/I already knew how to do. Know what I mean, pinto bean?
Go for it, Dep-t! It's addicting! LOL. Oh yea...a web SITE is nothing more than a BUNCH of them web PAGES strung together, with links.
catchya later....sending a spreadsheet to Bidchaser.

KW you scare me!!!....I'm up to about $200 now and I think it's done....
BUT!!!
Just having problems uploading files from godaddy to me...
I've got so much different advice during the past 3 weeks I'm more confused now than when I started...
ftp_file done
domain name done
host server done
web host done
http thingee done
headaches 14
frustration see above
I'm not that computer literate and I am one who does everything himself, but does not mind asking questions and takes advice...
I've had offers last year from my own buyers to build my website for a fee...
Local buddy who sells on ebay like there was no tomorrow and has his own website says he uses ewosoft or something and for $89.00 a year it's done...BUT he has to upload files to make changes....
That's my problem, uploading from one to another....
KW don't know if I told you this, but you scare me with that cost...LOL....My paypal account is dry and now working with my CC...
