We have added a new craigslist forum. Craigslist serves over 5 billion page views per month and is a great free venue for selling locally.

Hi, what a great idea, to have a craigslist forum!
I have done quite a few listings on c.list, tho not had much response.
Tho, I am continuing to post different items on there.
I wondered if some things sell better than others on there?

I too list items on CL Anne but like you, never sold anything on it.
I try placing different types of merchandise in different parts of the U.S. to no avail :(
Glad we now have a forum in which to discuss CL! :D |

I have been advertising on Craigslist forever with our construction company. We have done well from that post and now do about 90% of business from craigslist. Anyway I have a few web pages and have been doing lots of posting on craigslist for them. I figured out that if you ad to much html to a craigslist posting it will new be shown but look active in your CL admin. So if you take and use this html code in your post to get a direct link to your web pages it will last forever.
<your><a>CLICK HERE</a> <strike>this hers is blended text so make different every post so post wont get flagged</strike><br><br>
that works well. After dealing with craigslist forever i decided to open my own classified site. I am now looking for testers for this site and will be offering our platnium memberships for free to all the people that test and leave feedback for me to make improvements to the site. If you would please take the time to go through our new site I will be thanking you with a free for life membership.

thanks so much

I use craigslist to sell large parts on. I have sold several truck parts and a few other things. I don't think it is good for small stuff unless you live in a heavily populated area. My boat and motorcycle parts go ok om there too.

Hi Erin,
Thanks for the welcome. I have been a member for a while. Just haven't posted before. I have been reading and posting on the ebay stores board but most old posters are leaving and not much interesting posts there anymore.
I am developing my website and selling in craigslist as well as selling on ebay. I have done well on ebay but it's so unpredictable. I could go in and find my store deleted and never know why.
It's their site though so they can do anything that they want. I have got to look out for myself.

Hey Bill - super glad you 'stepped' in and posted! Your 'new strategy' sounds like a great plan. I see many folks, much smarter than I - building their own sites and having great success.
They too usually 'use ebaY' to market traffic to their new site. A great sense of satisfaction and 'control' are the 2 things I hear most often from those venturing out.
I'm too numpty to do it alone, and this time of year is 'busy' enough for me. But - I'm thinking about it for next year....I wish you the best of sales - no matter where you're selling!!

I wish craigslist would sell sponsor ads and use the money
to advertise.
This might go against their "grass roots" philosophy, but
personally I would rather see the ads and more traffic.
I make very profitable sales on craigslist on a regular basis.
Still believe it could be MUCH better. |

I think craigslist will remain the same as it is now. ebay would love to get into it and do some now infamous ebay enhancements but craig ain't budging.
He said on an article that I read that you can only use so much money. Evidently he has enough.

I listed on Craigs List one time.
I sold the item I listed, but it was very time consuming.
Phone calls... meet me here... oh no wait... meet me here... etc.
I finally left the item in my unlocked truck and asked the buyer to leave their payment in the ashtray.
They did and it all worked out, but since I am busy driving a truck during the day, it was really inconvenient.
I suppose it would work better for those with a employee manned brick and mortar store or someone who had someone at home all the time.
I really prefer getting my payment wired to me and shipping it out after this experience.
Craigs List seems to be a good advertising venue, but for some of us, an inconvenient way to run an online business. |
