Sales Discussion : Sales on the site

This message made STICKY by a Moderator. Will remain posted on top.
There was a very interesting thread regarding sales on the site. Bidville has sellers that have numerous sales and many of them are not posting in the Message Boards. They are busy doing their work. When it comes to on-line auctions, price and product are important. It must be an item that consumers want to buy and are looking for and at a great price (including shipping). We have sellers that have anywhere from 5 to 30 sales a day.
Feedback does not always indicate success. Some of these successful sellers don`t have much feedback, but that is okay. They are a trusted seller and complete their transactions as stated and provide the product as advertised and in a timely manner.
So in conclusion....sellers are making money here. They are successful and Bidville is successful.

Member to Member Help Desk : Not Getting Notifications

I`m not receiving e-mail notifications from Bidville. I had an auction end with a TIN and never got an e-mail about it. I only found out `cause I noticed the item was missing from my auctions list. I found it in my sold items. I also sent an invoice and asked for a copy to be sent to me...didn`t get it. There is nothing wrong with my e-mail since I`m receiving other mail. Anyone else having this problem?

Home Improvement : just an opinion..responses welcomed

Hi, all
I`ve been a member of BV for a long time now. Before all these changes came along, I used to sell a great deal of items.
I always welcome improvement if it is beneficial. So far I haven`t seen much of this. I check around the communities board and see where many people are posting complaints as well as suggestions for improvements.
The BV annoucement board hasn`t had a post since last year....have they nothing to say?
As far as the shameless plugs....who are we plugging to....each other?
Seems to me the majority of the people (maybe) looking at auctions on bidville are the same ones trying to sell.
If someone has no fb and no listings, we`re probably wary of them, but where do the outside bids come from?
I see sellers telling other sellers thanks for the bids.
I don`t know....is it just me or does anyone else see any of this?

I do have a few items on my watch ist though
Don`t get me wrong....I appreciate bids no matter where they come from, I just haven`t been getting any. I figure it`s because everyone at BV is try to sell.

This is in Real reality a no-name auction site. Many do Not know it exists, and the rest do not care, as it is now.. is a shot in the dark.
Turn the lights back on here.

Abasket...YOUR RIGHT ON THE MONEY. I have been here since Jan, 2001. Go over and Read What GIFTS AND I Have been saying in the Home Improvement board and you will SEE YOUR NOT ALONE. Coney is ALSO RIGHT, Can Someone PLEASE TURN BACK ON THE LIGHTS. How true is that?
I mean I have been here for 6 1/2 Years and Mainly this is a Inventory place for me. I get approx. 2 sales a month here. Sometimes more, but hardly.
I have over 5300 items and NO ONE IS BUYING FROM ME NOW. Its just ashame, cause I work so hard at all my listings.
I also have an outlet, I sell at other places, otherwise I WOULD STARVE TO DEATH.
BASKET....Your SO RIGHT, Sellers are Buying from each other here. Thats it!!

Well abc, all that you have said is true, & I agree with you.
I`ve been saying pretty much the same thing for a long time too. but everytime I say something I get slammed for it , lol oh well !

Hi, I am new at Bidville and new at selling. I have been reading in the community and saw a lot of complaining about not enough sales....
I see two things hurting Bidville. First THE PRODUCTS and second which is a part of the first NOT ENOUGH SELLERS that will bring more diversified and new products.
I feel sometimes when I am browsing that I am in a thrift store. I saw more "adult item" than LINGERIE. Is there anything NEW? I don`t claim I have the best products, I am still searching as I have to learn twice faster, everything is new to me and it takes me longer to absorb every little thing. I have been in USA for 6 years.
The question is what would make a customer buy our products, be a repeat customer and do the advertising for us. THE DIVERSITY, THE QUALITY and THE GOOD PRICE.
So let us make the effort in addition to the advertising , to bring better products at great prices.
Thank you and good luck.
BijouxBoutik (31) Posted 5/19/2007 9:04:02 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with Petunia, we really need more items here. Stuff that people are looking for.
We can always give up and let feebay rule and pay 20$ to have a little bottle of perfume shipped to us.
But ..... don`t count me in on that !

Joan,
Do you believe that a successful auction site should communicate with its Sellers more than once in 9 months? It's just a question, and one I hope you'll answer honestly. |

Sure, it would be nice to know what they have planned. But, unless you are a major stockholder, they don't have to tell us anything.
Why get all bent out of shape about something that you have absolutely no control over?
Nice job picking through the boards to find the threads to suit your purposes.
To anyone else interested, don't take one persons vendetta to heart. Check it out for yourself. |

In fairness to PSU members, tails, we'd love to hear from more of the successful sellers from Bidville. Would you and joan do us the honor of inviting some over?
The ability to see BOTH sides would be so refreshing.
Bidville's traffic has shown some improvement. I've watched the yahoosellers group and many are taking their listings (and customers) to Bidville. Bidville is still at Google Product Search and MSN Live product search.
Stay the course!
As a participant in the Summer Solstice event, I will be listing at Bidville as one of my additional sites.

| I could try to do that. The only problem is is that only about 10% of the sellers there even bother with the boards and places like this. I also wish more would speak. I just get so tired of seeing people speak as if they speak for all. Two little words change the whole meaning of the statements. FOR ME. Imagine the difference in the meanings of the posts. Angel, I accepted your 360 invite, I'll invite you too in a bit. |

Exactly right, sir. And the thing is--as with all venues--our experiences are different everywhere. The point is to check it out, give it time, list good items and list them well. Take responsibility for your business and promote your listings.
Thanks for the add @ 360! You have any other Bidvillers, send them my way!

Check it out for yourself.
Yes, please do.
Tails,
The threads were not hard to find at all. They are current issues at BV. At least as current as the Moderators proclaimation that BV is successful. That is ridiculous commentary from an invisible management. Most Sellers are not successful at BV and they certainly are not selling 5-30 items per day. Those of you who cheerlead for such half-baked management are harming other, less fortunate, Sellers.
Sylvia,
You never answered my question in the other thread as to why you thought it was interesting that a thread was posted to and therefore bumped to the number one spot in a list of threads, as opposed to the number two spot. You implied that there was something fishy going on. We should all be accountable for what we say, especially when implying what you did. You chose not to be accountable, therefore you've discounted yourself as far as I'm concerned. I won't debate BV or anything else with anyone who refuses to stand behind their own words. There would be no point. |

Tails,
The problem is there are not that many successful Sellers at BV, and I'd like to know where you get 10% from? BV Sellers are speaking out (See my OP and your own forum), you just don't like what they're saying. |

Thats only seven. I could find more. The 10% is what I feel use the boards. The boards certainly do not represent the majority. So, yes, there are successful sellers on Bidville. Those that use the boards are the minority not the majority.
You are correct. I don't like what they are saying because they speak for themselves, not the whole. |

| They speak because they are inclined to share their thoughts. If the whole wants to speak, the whole is free to speak. Neither you, nor I speak for everyone at BV, but that doesn't mean we are forbidden to share our thoughts. That's life. |

The problem is, cuff, that you seem to believe your point of view is the only one that is correct. If there are any others who say *anything* positive about Bidville, whether it be their own success, or that they like the site or anything at all...suddenly, you're trashing Bidville as fast as you can in every thread.
Neither tails, nor I, nor joan try to speak for Bidville's success, but you certainly make a good case for shouting about it's failures.

Now, let's look at the actual feedback Tails:
KINNEAR (473)
(8,287 Items)
dollardaze(307)
(19,120 Items)
GMDCARDS(607)
(8,104 Items)
jeep21000(530)
(24713 Items)
cochise98(738)
(23,593 Items)
bricks3(363)
(7,578 Items)
burton9922 (439)
Sorry no items listed for "burton9922"
2001 and 2002... That's over 5 and 6 years. That's a long time, and they certainly are not average Sellers with the number of listings they're running. How do you think they'll feel if uBid pulls the plug and they have to redo them all? It's not as if management makes a point of communicating. In fact, they do the exact opposite even when members are begging them to speak. |
