Well, perhaps PayPal is not down for all, but judging by the tiresome wait time on the phone this morning (9:30 AM PST), there are many folks out there who are as frustrated as I am. Although this is not a bashing email against PP. After a rep took my information and tried to find me in the system, he THEN said some login information is not available due to system upgrades by the IT department. Hmm..... what kind of planning is this? Middle of the day upgrades to the Paypal system?? Who else had problems this morning?

No problems for me, I was just there a few minutes ago.

I do know that last night I was on very late and the red message was warning upgrades to take place at 1 or 2am I think.... maybe maintenance is into over time.

...and I hear ya, I HATE it when they ask for information when they know darn well they're gonna end up telling you info is inaccessible

Perhaps I need more patients - I just logged in, although things are moving very slowly. Don't know if I am happy for the upgrade? Or disgruntled because of the way it's handled.

For over an hour I have been getting "Message 3004" sorry for the delay type message when trying to login to Paypal.

I called them and they first said they were doing an "upgrade" - then after I got furious that on the 1st day of the month in the middle of the day that was not a likely story they agreed that they could not handle the incoming volume!

After not accepting the "company line" then and only then did they admit having a problem.

My cart is not capable of handling GCO as of yet - we have been working on it.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here calling people as I see invoices appear and taking their information for payment manually to be entered later rather than loose sells.

Anyone else tried logging in?

Well, it's 10:30 AM PST and again, after briefly logging in - it went down again. I wish they would post something about an "upgrade, etc." on their website or let people know what is going on, and when to expect things to be running smoothly. Oh well, perhaps I'm beating a dead horse.

We are currently performing weekly maintenance on the PayPal website and it is temporarily unavailable. We estimate that it will be available at approximately 11:30 AM PDT.

The above is now being posted. After years of working in a call center I know weekly maintenance is performed when there is the least amt. of traffic - in the wee hours of the morning.

Up and then down again in the middle of a transaction. Thinking back to my manual virtual processing yesterday customers were having a rough time getting through yesterday too. One customer said she tried for 30 min. yesterday.

...and the situation gets worse

I just forgoed the PayPal shipping labels and printed shipping labels via Shipping Assistant, which of course means using my PayPal debit card to pay for them at the post office.

I asked for cashback on the transaction - a small amount that is EASILY covered on my PayPal balance - and it was declined twice

embarassed, I just had the clerk run it as credit - without a hitch

Thanks PayPal - the 1st of the month and a Friday no less - you really dropped the ball on this one

I have to say when a shady update takes place in the middle of the day....something is wrong, unplanned, unforseen. I used to work for a big tech company in the IT dept. Updating big sites usually don't take place like this, without announcement, or at least it happens during a slow traffic time period. Of course, one could argue they didn't want to attract hackers, etc., by making a general announcement. But still, very poor buisness on their behalf. Someone said recently in a forum around PSU, about being tired of complaining. I think complaining and nitpicking is one thing - but when a massive company like PayPal that handles our MONEY does weird things on the 1st of June, well, we all have reason to yak about it. I won't even get started on the BAD customer service (telephone) they had today also.

Upgrade? not likely -Outage!

I lost sells due to abandon carts and not being able to reach all the customers to enter their information through the virtual terminal later in the day.
