I am interested in opening a PSU store. I sell Sprinter related parts and seats where most of the items weigh 150+ Lbs, for creativemobileinteriors.com (opening a new venue to sell parts, that site is basically for information and lists some tour buses currently being sold). In the past we've been getting customers by word of mouth by request and I ship freight with Yellow Transportation due to our discount.

My main concern is the shipping end of a PSU store using freight. Will I be able to integrate the API from into a PSU stores checkout. I will immediatly start using Google checkout and Paypal as payment methods. Then eventually use authorize.net aswell.

Another question I have is, is it possible to integrate a point of your store checkout where a customer is notified to call or email me for a shipping quote. Then once I give them a quote they can continue and add the shipping cost to the checkout themself while still being able to choose google or paypal checkout?

Any other information would be great as to how to set this up or any opinions etc, I would really like to be able to use the services you offer.

Sorry we do not have a shipping module that supports myyellow. We do have a standard shipping module which you can add custom shipping rates. You can add all the rates for the weights that you know of and then any rates that you dont' have you can create a rate that has them to call you.

I suggest you use the standard shipping module to catch the majority of the shipping rates for your items.(most common weights)

We also don't have a stopping point for them to call get the rates add the amount manually and continue.

Ok, So if I have a weight listed that I currently don't have a rate for, I can make it say call for quote or call seller?

The problem with having one rate for an item in the US is, if I shipped from Grove City, OH to Cleveland it would cost me $150, but it would cost $300 to ship to 90210.

If you made a shipping module for Yellow I bet it would attract a lot of customers, atleast people like me that can't do it all themself, and doesn't want to pay someone to do it. They won't do business with any 3rd party logistics companies and it is a hassle to use them through ebay since they wont work with freightquote.com.

Oh, and I'm from Grove City, Ohio myself, hey.

Hey we are practical neighbors :D

"So if I have a weight listed that I currently don't have a rate for, I can make it say call for quote or call seller? " Yes

You can set the shipping by weight range and zip code range. That way you can have different shipping going to Cleveland and 90210.

Ok, not sure how that would work. Defined shipping cost by weight won't work, but zip code range could. I would have to input a shipping cost for every zip code in the USA for a certain weight? Also could I use wildcards or whatever? Like say I wanted to charge $250 to ship to anywhere in Nevada could I add 899* 900* , etc as the zipcodes or do I have to use the whole zipcode. Since I already know the ranges for each state like ohio is 43*-45*. I'm glad I just didn't buy the store already this is driving me crazy almost. There's gotta be a somewhat easy solution I'm not seeing.

Also the call for quote thing. They won't be able to complete the checkout after they call for a quote? I don't want to accept payments over the phone.

You can do weight ranges for example 100 to 300 lbs and do zip code ranges 43000 to 45000.

For the quote thing you can just have them call for shipping price then they will complete checkout with no shipping cost. Once you get the order you can invoice them for shipping. Or if you take credit card you can just add shipping to the amount before you run the card. There are many ways to do it.

Thanks, I just checked out the zip code range start and end thing in the admin demo. That will work I just have to put the time in to figure out the costs, which will take forever. In the meantime I will try having them call me for quote paying only for the item, then send an invoice for shipping through whichever payment method they used, google checkout or paypal. I didn't even know you could send an invoice through google checkout until today which would have been my next question.

The only thing I am not understanding is how to get it to say call for quote for the shipping, and having it still let them use the checkout without a shipping cost?

If there isn't a rule setup for a certain weight, it will automatically say contact the seller or call for quote? And they will be able to checkout still without a shipping cost?

Say you have shipping rates setup for weights 0-50. You can then make a shipping rate for weights 50-1000 and make the description or provider say "call 555-555-5555 for shipping cost" and make the shipping cost zero.

You can also make the call for shipping option show up all the time by making it a rate with a weight 0-100000 so they have an option to choose the shipping amount if there is one or call.
