This on the home page:
Dear Bidville Members:
The Bidville site is experiencing a system’s issue regarding credit card processing for registration, random amounts and credit card payments. We are aware of the issue and expect this to be resolved by Wednesday July 11th. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you posted on the issue and resolution. |

| I know they bill folk's credit cards on the 10th. So if they overbill us by a few hundred dollars, will we get our refund in enhancement fees? |

Joan, get your head out of the sand and go to the home page. They admit that something is wrong with their 'system'. apparently it has gone haywire, either because no one is taking care of business, or someone has messed with their software. It didn't just do that on it's own.
The question is, how is this going to affect BV customers..and their bank accounts?? |

| This may well be a result of the non-secure information and/or log-in pages. The log-in page is secure now. Not so for the information page. Someone may have screwed things up trying to hack the cc information. |

I did read the front page before I ever read this dooms day usual message at this site.
I am not worried one bit, I have gotten notification my 3 month billing will be on my credit card, and if there is any problem at that time I am sure I'm capable of taking care of it...
The Sky is not falling and I wonder who's heads are in the sand.
If the site so bothers you people then just leave and go plug the positive of sites you sell at with success...
I can't see why you just have to save the world from Bidville all the time..
The site works for me, and I spend most of my time plugging my items for sale on Bidvile which do bring me sales, instead of getting on every board around and bad mouthing a site, for reasons that are beyond me...

| This is the BV auction forum at PSU Joan. It is for posting information regarding BV. It's called sharing information in a discussion format. Please don't tell us to leave. First of all, it isn't your place to do so. Secondly, there is an Ignore button here that you are free to use, so why constantly complain about the posts of others? |

Her goes the Chicken Littles again, yelling the sky is falling. First they complain Bidville doesn't tell them anything, then when Bidville post a message on the front page for everybody to see, they complain about what the message said.
It's apparent that Bidville CS is aware of the problem, has it contained is making any necessary corrections.
They said nothing about it having to do with the site being insecure. So where do you get that information?
It's just nothing but gossip. Some folks just aren't happy unless the pot is constantly stirred.
The ville is no less secure than ecrater, OLA, or any other site. So spit the sand out and get on with life.
BTW, I just went to ONA (overnightauctions) and ecrater and realized they don't have a secure registration or login page. I guess I souldn't use these sites right?? |

Where does it say that the problem is contained?
We didn't run over to BV and post that notice Joe, so how is it that we are stirring the pot? Are people supposed to stop discussing BV issues in order to avoid being called names like pot stirrer, or chicken little? Sorry, but I don't play the bully game.
It is possible that the non-secure pages that you deemed unimportant have caused a problem with credit cards at BV. There are hackers everywhere and the personal information of every BV member is out there just blowing in the breeze. |

Can you show me one instance of BidVilles information being accessed by someone. Was this documented someplace or just more gossip?
Where does it say the information is just blowing in the breeze for everyone to enjoy. Seems like the chicken little story to me. It keeps getting bigger with every post. |

Do you think what I'm saying is worse than your spreading the misinformation that the problem is contained, Joe? Talk about the story getting bigger  Speculation regarding what is or is not at stake is far less dangerous than leading other members to believe that all is well when you don't KNOW if all is well or not.
BV has always been secure until now. If you want examples of hacking stick around... There is at least the possibility that there will be an example of such by Wednesday the 11th. |

Apparently the problem is NOT contained, as they state it should be fixed by the 11th.
No one is trying to kill BV, Joan. If I wanted to kill it, I wouldn't list there, or shop there as I do. But I think everyone has a right to be concerned, and would be foolish if they are not concerned, about possible mis-billing of their accounts or credit cards....how much are bounced check fees at your bank, if they clean you out on the 10th and you try to buy groceries on the 11th? |

You still haven't answered my question. Can you name 1 instance of information getting into the wrong hands? Has Bidville given you more information than what is posted? You must just be assuming that there is a security problem then.
I say the problem is contained because they are aware of it and are taking steps to correct it. That usually means the problem is not happening any longer and permanent measures are being put in place. So I say once again the sky is not falling. The sun is shining brightly and the sky is clear. |
