1. GoogleCheckout (for the USA & UK , and soon Canada I hope). Well talking to alot of people and sellers Googlecheckout has its quirks but it seems hard to beat. It has brand recognition thats much higher then Paypal. Off eBay alot of people don't know Paypal , but everyone knows what Google is.

https://checkout.google.com

2. Moneybookers Growing stronger all the time ,approved for use on eBay , popular in Europe , its policy is alot better then Paypal. Its one that I like the most ,although I trust Googlecheckout to already be stronger in North America. Its a great option to have.

3. Paypal , yes sadly , Paypal is still the king in the USA and on eBay. Its hard to ignore Paypal for now....

4. Interac/Certapay , an awesome service for Canadians and Americans with Canadian branch. Interac is well known in Canada. There is also a merchant account version called Interac Online

5. Hyperwallet , makes the list due to it being so reputable a service closely linked to Canadian banking system as well as approved on eBay. It can also be used in Canada , and some use in USA if you work through limitations. The issue is that its not a popular service although it was advertised on eBay.ca for a number of years , is offered by some Canadian credit unions and such. People prefer to use it to fast load there Paypal accounts , but its such a good service with links to Canadian banks and eBay it deserved a mention

6. E-Gold ,Egold is a special case , its been around forever and has just crossed the million user line to be taken seriously , its much more known then Hyperwallet and is a true international service. It has a seedy reputation in some parts but due to the users not the service. Its an online gold standard service , where your money is backed by real gold. It can be dodgey to find a gold to money service so ONLY use those reccommended by E-gold website , through them you can find ATM services and the like. Sure E-Gold is not as smooth as some of the above , but if you need to buy a North Korean gunboat or a condo in Namibia then E-Gold is the service for you 8)

There are some online merchant account services that I approve of , but 90% of the online payment proccessors I see now are very poor. There is some buzz for cellphone payments but until there is a breakaway service , I assume Paypal or Moneybookers will continue to port in this service and stay ahead of them for now...BUT...it is an area of interest.

But why use Xcoin or stormpay or Goldmoney right now? There is not much point to have such weak contenders. I recently pulled Xcoin due to the lack of demand and poor e-mail communication

Thanks for posting this lammergeiernet!

I was wondering what you think of BidPay?

Also, do you know the ETA on GC for Canada?

Also, what is the best system for using on ebay if you want to have an automated like system like you can use if you accept PayPal ... where the invoice is sent and so on ... Do you know of any other service that ebay will allow to use and connect to their system?

Thanks!

NP 8)

Bidpay has been rebranded so many times , and last time I saw it under the latest management it was not so good. I did like it when it was run by Western Union but not now , thats just my opinion. I've dropped alot of services like Bidpay and Xcoin because of the lack of interest.

Nobody but Google knows if Checkout will be open soon for Canada ,in fact when Google jumped the pond rather then the traditional second option to test in Canada....well it shocked alot of people. Canadian sellers can only hope Canada is the next , but who knows what Google will do. International buyers of many nations can use googlecheckout already its more of a sellers issue.

Hmmmm good question , perhaps Auction Checkout would be a good service , its merchant account and can be used by Moneybookers as well but its a bit of confusing setup.

i think bidpay is great. easy to use, never had a problem with em since they've returned. the only thing i dont like, & have complained about, is their lack of an invoicing feature. i think this would help spread their popularity much more effectively.

:D

btw, speaking of paypall not being known outside the 'net--well, first of all, IS there anything outside the 'net? in addition, i've been seeing lots of company ads in magazines lately saying "paypal accepted", along with the usual list of CCs.

Paypal market pentetration is not that great

conventional payments , merchant accounts for example.

Interac/Certapay is more well known in Canada then Paypal for example as its part of every online bank account , and Interac corp handles ATM's as well as Debit cards , Canadians use Debit cards far more then the USA

Having a handheld Debit card device and an online terminal account can be a far better call in Canada then Paypal 8)

I can't say a ton of people seem to use Interac e-mail transfer often ....but almost all people know of Interac brand t what makes it work in Canada is that Interac is in close partnership with the half dozen big banks in Canada.

I'm sure USA banks don't want them in there sphere . although CA branches in USA may have it

found this info

1990 Interac Direct Payment is launched in Ottawa/Hull.
1992 Interac Direct Payment is offered in British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Quebec.
1993 Interac Direct Payment is offered in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North West Ontario.
1994 Interac Direct Payment is available nationally.
1997 One billion Interac Direct Payment transactions logged.
2000 On its 10th anniversary, Interac Direct Payment surpasses cash as Canadian's preferred way to pay for purchases.
2005 Interac Direct Payment sees its busiest day in history, logging 15.5 million transactions on December 23, 2005.

I checked out E-gold, they advertise as free charges. But when you buy/sell gold through their approved third parties, i find it pretty expensive. Is there something i shall know about this service?

E-Gold can be expensive depending on gold exchanger

It depends what you are doing , some third world banks and wire transfer services are so prohibitive its better to use E-Gold.

It depends where you get your funds and where your funds are going.

There are ATM services with some exchangers that while seems expensive can be alot better then going through banks.

There is also the option of spending gold funds.

Yes Moneybookers is approved

It was banned for a couple days until they realized Moneybookers was a partner with eBay partner AuctionCheckout , and they quickly allowed it back on hehe.
