If you notice their credit card authorization for becoming a new seller it's out of Illinois, as well as the automated "BART" that calls to give you the VIP listing. This is where Ubid is located, and not where Bidville was previously located in Boca Raton, FL. It's also a step to make the site a little more secure. Now on a programming end, that's where Ubid can change some stuff. They've been pretty tight lipped about Bidville, as they don't mention it in their SEC filings, or their earnings releases, hell they haven't mentioned anything lately, so it makes you wonder what may be in the works over there. I'm sure we'll get an announcement soon. If traffic is up and views up, that's certainly a good thing and I wonder where that's coming from if there is no advertising for the site going on.

I contacted ubid about Bidville future. I received a kind email stating the long term plans are to keep bidville a seperate company. I do not look for major changes until listings top a 2-3 million.

Any idea on current number of listings, completed sales in say the last week or month and number of users on the site?

I recall that you used to be able to go into a sellers auctions or the separate categories, click bids and the bids would come to the top. That isn't the way it is now. And, the Illinois address is as it has been for quite some time. In fact, their customer service center is and has been located near Hume, IL.

Well, I find it odd that his first post regarding BV was to suggest that everyone buy uBid stock. Then, he asked questions as though he was suspicious of uBid, followed by his intention to list there, followed by more questions re: the numbers and now he's talking about BV being more secure because it's located in Chicago instead of FL. All of this has made me suspicious.
Sorry to talk as if you aren't there scbeachbum. I wish uBid would send a rep over here, but not covertly. Quite frankly, I'd question the sanity of anyone who would actually buy uBid stock. It's absolutely tanked! And, take a look at the auctions running at uBid. All those bids and in each and every one that I checked the bidders all had two initials as an ID. I find that odd, too. |

Nope...don't work for Ubid/Bidville...just trying to assess the site and the potential or not. I'm sure you can easily go look up my userid and see that I'm new to Bidville and that I was on Ebay under that userid for the longest time, until my account got hijacked and I lost my ID due to the rampant fraud on Ebay (current ID on ebay beezer297) and couldn't get it back. That really ticked me off with Ebay so I've been looking to build up/use a #2. Although I do admit I have looked into Ubid as an investment opportunity since they are publicly traded. I figure at a 25M valuation and half the shares owned by a billionaire, it might make sense.

The reason I first posted about buying up the stock was that's what companies listen to. If you've watched CNBC over the last year or read the Wall Street Journal you'll see that shareholders make a BIG difference in the direction of the company. I think the complaints were Ubid wasn't doing anything with BV, so that was my idea of a potential solution to get their attention. As far as the Ubid site goes, I buy stuff off there and don't sell. They list the bidders by their initials and city of residence, not any userid. In terms of the Chicago mention, I just today got my "VIP" status to sell on BV and I noticed the credit card authorization was from Chicago as well as the automated service that called. That was me putting 2 and 2 together and realizing that Ubid has moved that to Chicago, which shows they are doing something with the site.

Here's some food for thought about how "activist" investors get results. Dan Loeb is one of the best:

Another one is Bob Chapman

I see a lot of what they do can be easily applied to get results at Ubid if people want to band together. |

PETERS Group has been the Main shareholder of uBid for at least the last 7 Years. The Stock has been weak for the last 18 Months. Why do they basically coverup Bidville is the real question and I need no answer/s, because they have always treated BV as a bump on a log. Nowheresville. Gold right in front of them, but they do not want the profit, makes sense huh. I can see the OLD BV owners announcing Hey we are back at BV, duh. Musical tax chairs, same ole song.

Well Ubid hasn't owned BV for even a year yet. Although I wish they would have devoted more resources to building it up, I'd hope they'll be doing something with it soon. Remember Bidville went bankrupt and that's how Ubid bought them. Ebay reports earnings tonight, we'll see if they have anything to say about users fleeing or if we can see any cracks in the dam there as people look to other sites.
