NEW YORK -- It's been a year since Google Inc. launched its much-anticipated payment service, and I've been curious whether a company known best for its search engine can deliver a money service as good as industry leader PayPal.

In many ways, I found Google Checkout much easier to use. I can pay for merchandise in fewer steps and more easily understand my account options.

But the ultimate test is whether Checkout works with the tasks for which I've been using PayPal, and the answer is no.

IT surprises me that this reporter does not state that Paypal will steal your money for 6 months
if they do not like what you are selling.

He also reports that Google wants your SSN and paypal does not....
BULLCRAP - If you sell anything with PP they will LOCK your account until you provide them with a SSN.

WOW - I just love it when reporters do NOT state the facts.

I also noticed that there is NOT a link at the bottom to email the reporter.
There is also not a "Comment" area at the bottom.
So everyone who reads that "news" story will take it as the truth....
Sad.... Very Sad

When I signed up for PayPal, they put money into my bank account. 2 deposits of less then 25c. Since you have to have id to open a bank account, and you have to give them the bank routing info, then call back with the deposits made. I can't remember if I did it online or not.

My personal thoughts....

Next year when Google starts charging for its service things will probably change.
The service will get better and open its doors up for international sellers.
The US was its start and the UK was the stepping stone.

I might be incorrect I might not...
Who really knows.
