Regarding the news update "eBay Straddles Line between 'Trust' and 'Safety' with New Policy" I found this comment about it on another board.

"At some point, probably this year, eBay will eliminate email addresses altogether and all communications will be via their site. This wouldn't be a problem except as it stands now they remove all formatting of messages sent via their "contact member" system and they bury your message under all their warnings ,etc. IOW, they subvert the content of the message. This is intolerable!

As for the justification for not displaying emails over 14 days old, it's absurd. The only people who can see the email address of another user is if you are doing business with that user on that item (seller - bidder, bidder-seller). Noone else can see the email. So the logic is absurd. The fact is it is an incremental step. First 14 days, the 7 days, then never."

They are making it harder for you to email your OWN customers to help you build your own business or website outside eBay.

eBay likes to take control of our interaction with our customers. But as soon as we get ripped off by a scammer they don't want anything to do with it and we are on our own.

Bravo to that! I terribly dislike not being able to contact my own customers. It is absolutely ridiculous. I rarely, if ever, use eBay's 'contact member' buttons just because of the warnings involved.

Good luck, all!
