I just bumped into a USA Today article - Transferring money online

This is the company they are talking about: revolution money

What disturbed me is the article calling Google Checkout "without great success" and underperformed. Since I have not really used Google Checkout, I don't know, but PSU people seem to like it.

Would like to hear thoughts on this Revolution Money. They say you can transfer money with no fees. But they seem more geared toward bill payers, and: "Revolution's target market is the millions of young people who spend hours online at social networks."

I had seen an article about this a while back but hadn't heard anything since. I don't see a date other than in the link and I don't know if that means it's from Nov (11) 6 or June (6) 11.

There are a few factual errors in the article too. Personally I think Google Checkout has had decent success concidering it's just a bit over a year old. Google HAS said what they will be doing on 08. Their fees are posted. It's something like 2% and 0.20/. Enough lower than PP to keep me interested and using it.

The article isn't clear about HOW you will be able to use Revolution. I don't do the IM stuff, so does that leave me "Out". Not clear.

While it has some bigger names behind it, until I hear more about it, GC is still my choice for now.

I have not heard of this site, nor have I seen any of these articles. My biggest fear/concern about any of the sites that are targeted for bill-paying ---- is there any recourse/assistance if a transaction goes bad.

We've heard all kinds of stories where the sellers says shipped, buyer never gets. The reverse is true also - buyer receives empty box or not as described.

I'm all for alternatives to PP and know they have tons of issues in managing fraud, disputes, etc. - but I'll carefully 'look' for these things when I do explore any new payment processing or transfer offer.

I'll try to visit the site and see if it 'appeals' to me or not. I have used GCO this year, and have not had any issues at all. I 'wish' they would develop an actual 'invoice', but beyond that - no complaints!! :D :D

I went back to the article - other than it saying it had been updated about 4 hours ago, you are right Carol, no real date on the thing. I supposed I'm hungry for a good WPS, and hopeful that new services will take off.

Maybe I should start a blog on web payment options -- or if there is already one out there?? I just hate to dance and try and unfreeze my Paypal account - so much wrong with them.

Thanks for the responses - above.
