I decided to give Bidville a try so I signed up this morning or at least I tried to sign up. Everything went perfectly fine except when I clicked the link for them to call me. Like the previous poster I also got the following message at the top of the screen

"7728 11 Demo not allowed. Please use other methods for a demo of the product. false 0 0 true 0 0001-01-01T00:00:00 0001-01-01T00:00:00 0 true"

I also emailed tech support, but since it has already been reported & hasn't been fixed yet, I don't expect anything to be done about it. Until then, I am stuck in Bidville purgatory. I can't even list anything.

You're the second person on PSU that has mentioned this same error.

Welcome from Texas! Don't feel bad, you're not losing a lot by not being able to list at BV. Have you tried Plunderhere, just as easy to list, no charge for gallery photos, just a FVF...and customers to boot!
I sold at BV for years, but it has not been a money maker for most sellers (except Joan, of course) for a long time. No advertising, no forums, nada.

Thanks Texas-treasure! What part of Texas are you located? I'm in Fairfield (about 90 miles south of Dallas on I-45).

I hadn't heard of Plunderhere. I took a look at the site & I just might give it a try after the first of the year.

I used to sell on Bidville a long time ago. I didn't think I would ever sell on there again so I asked them to deactivate my account. Guess I should have left well enough alone.

What really ticks me off the most is the fact that my credit card was charged. It was only a minimal amount, but if I can't use the site I don't think it's right to have the charge remain.

Lori - you can dispute that charge thru your CC company, and never have to 'try' and reach the customer service folks. I realize it's 'effort and time' - but an option for you!

I am also at Plunderhere! It's got a great community, and is growing all the time! I'm pleased with my sales there - and have done well!

I don't know fairfield, but used to live northeast of Dallas near McKinney-pretty country!
My sales at plunderhere have really picked up lately even though I've kinda neglected things because of my real life chores. It's the kind of place BV COULD have been, real community feel, great owner, well worth the effort of moving things there.

Hi Erin,

I was going to call my bank (I used my debit card), but when I checked my account online, the charge had mysteriously disappeared. 8)

Hi Texas-treasure,

Not many people know where Fairfield is. Our population somewhere around 3,000. We don't even have a Wal-Mart. :( If you know where Corsicana is, we are 32 miles south of it. Also, if you've ever eaten at Sam's Restaurant, that's also Fairfield. A lot of people have heard of Sam's, but probably don't know where it's located.

My cousins used to live in McKinney. It's off of Hwy. 75 isn't it?

I decided go ahead & site up with PlunderHere. I haven't listed any items yet though. I need to get PP verified. Once that happens, I'll start listing.

VIP isn't working for me either. Emailed Bidville, but still haven't heard back from them
Thinking of trying Plunderhere and ecrater. Any tips guys? I generally sell antiques and collectibles, glass and pottery mostly.

Hiya,

I am having lots of fun using Bidcorral

They have a promo going and are 100% free until the end of march.

Give them a try. I just bought some really cool stuff on there this last week.

thethriftydiva, I listed at Bidville until they closed the forums. Now I list at PlunderHere. Stop by, you might like what you see.

I had no luck selling at Bidville and never did hear from CS when I had an issue. I think if you research here, you will see that their CS stinks - or doesn't exist.

eCrater and Plunderhere are my 2 preferred venues - as they actually produce sales for me.

I also have live listings at BiddersnSellers and BluJay and IWAC - but haven't had the time to 'dig in' like the other 2 (ecrater and Plunderhere).

Best of sales to ya!! :D :D

Just to add my 2 cents...

I signed up with Bidville 5 days ago and tried their VIP process at that time. The verification phone call was never received. I emailed Bidville customer service to report the problem and did not receive a response.

Every day after that, I tried the VIP verification again, and the phone call was never received. I emailed Bidville customer service each day to report the VIP problem and never received a response.

Yesterday, I sent an email to CDYNE (the company that apparently provides the VIP verification service), and never received a response.

Maybe Bidville doesn't need or want new sellers. Perhaps they have all the business they want and don't want new customers.

Actually the conclusion many of us have come to is that since uBid bought them about 2 years ago and have done absolutely NOTHING with the site, BV is most likely a "tax write-off" for uBid. Or at least that's the way they are acting.
