Wondering if anyone knows the correct way to process a Payment from Google check out if you are overpaid. In many cases the customer overpays me on shipping if they go directly from the site they bought the item from, to Google Check Out.
Do I charge the customer the full amount and then issue a refund for the overpayment?
OR
Do I just charge the amount the customer needs to pay?
The reason I ask this is- when I do the second method, the remaining amount that I didn't charge still shows in my Google account as Chargable. I read somewhere after searching many Web pages (and now I can't find it again) that amounts charged to your Google Account are only available for 72 hours.
How does this effect the buyer and how does this come out on their CC or Bank statement? Does this tie up the money that wasn't charged for the Buyer? If anyone knows let me know.
I would like to consistantly do it one way. |

I'm not sure about any of the stuff you just asked.
I had a situation just like you mentioned where at on place the listing charged way too much for shipping a second item in the order.
At GC I just charged the correct amount as a "partial" and sent the order. That was the day before I left for a 2 week vacation. But I didn't hear anything from the buyer that they were charged dif than what I wanted.
I have heard that someone complained that GC charged the whole amount on an order.
What I think is happening is that GC is "putting a hold" on the total as the order comes in. Then if you charge something dif, that hold expires in about 48 hours and the proper amount is charged when you enter it.
If you ever have used the PP debit card, you can see how the hold works on your card in your account history. It's confusing when you first see what looks like a double charge, but the "hold" expires and gets put back in your account.

| Hi, Thanks for your input on this. I will just charge the correct amount, and hope that this is the best way of doing it. Later when processing fees are charged I will see how this works. If a customer ever lets me know anything different about how it effects them I will let you know. |
