Hi!

Over recent months I have had quite a number of customers buying items on buy now however the paypal system states payment "uncleared".

A payment may remain "uncleared" for up to two weeks in some cases which is not only frustrating but inconvenient as I must then submit another item for sale, put the item bought on standby for dispatch, efectively affecting the ability to purchase further stock ( due to issue of storing excess stock) then hope in the meantime the customer ain't a complete idiot or stress head and leave negative feedback because an item has not arrived.

As I have a policy of NOT dispatching items until a payment has cleared
( call me old fashioned )

I have had items cancelled as customers have not wanted to wait for thiere payment to clear and have stated they might as well go to a shop and buy it at a more expensive price but at least they have the item sooner, ( I can understand that reasoning. ) However that is of no help to me when I am loosing

1. A sale
2. Listing & sellers Fees ( paying to re list the item )
3 Potential new customers
4 Credibility
5 Time it costs to me personally administivly.

Whats the deal with Pay Pal recently????

Hi guitarbuddies......I get this quite often and it always takes four days for payment to clear. These are buyers paying via credit cards and it could be the credit card company's fault with slow responses to PayPal.. You could try calling PayPal 1-402-935-2050 They are there all the time to answer questions...

Like postman, most of my PP echecks or CC payments clear in a matter of days, not weeks.
Wonder if anyone else is having this problem? No guitarbuddies, you're not old fashioned, just cautious. I never ship items until their payment CLEARS.

I'm going to move your OP over to the "web payment" thread and perhaps someone might be able to explain this.

Usually it's just the e-checks that take quite a while with PP, for me anyway. Most times they clear within 4 days, but every once in a while it will take up to 2 weeks.

I did read something recently that the "connection" between eBay and PP hasn't been working properly and lots of PP payments that are actually made, are not showing up on the eBay seller's account. If you go to your PP account tho, you will see then there and cleared. Don't know if that's part of your problem or not tho.

I understand about waiting for the payment to clear too. That's what I do 99% of the time.

I had 1 exception this Dec tho. An order came in the day before we were leaving on a 2 week vacation. The item was time sensitive for Christmas, so I sent it out before getting the clearance, only because it would have been usless if I had waited until I got home.
