Traffic to classified advertising site Craigslist has steadily increased over the past year. Hitwise has an interesting analysis about the sites growth.
U.S. visits to Craigslist were up 93 percent year over year last week and in the Hitwise Classifieds category Craiglist properties, grew 137 percent. The site ranked #23 last week based on share of U.S. Internet visits, up two spots from a month ago and six spots from three months ago.
Hitwise attributes the growth partly to increased awareness of Craigslist. Heather Hopkins writes," The search term 'craigslist' was the fourth highest volume search term last week, based on share of US Internet searches, beat out only by 'myspace', 'ebay' and 'myspace.com'. The search term accounted for one in every 357 queries last week. Searches for 'craigslist' overtook searches for 'youtube' in September and for 'mapquest' in July."

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Craigslist has been really good to me. I am being squeezed out of ebay but the good news is that craigs is filling the gap. I usually keep 10 to 15 ads on CL and all have a link to my billphil.com where I have over 200 listings now.
I am starting to tailor some my merchandise for local sales. Ebay is getting hostile toward sellers. I used to think it was the used merchandise that they didn't want but now I don't think they want small sellers at all.
The big sellers will take over then ebay will be working for them. works that way every time.

This is an encouraging story! I live in Oregon and Craig's List gets me a lot of business, service contacts, even dates!!! To heck with the ebay deal. Using Craig's list to sell my remaining inventory, then will not do this retail sales thing any more. Too much of a hassle~ not with customers, but with the auction idea in the first place and companies like ebay.

UH OH! :x I just posted something to Craig's List and found out they are now limiting their ads to 7 days. It used to be 45 days, as recently as a couple of weeks ago. Also, they are now charging for postings offering employment, $25 a pop. That is not what I was posting, but it LOOKS like Greedbay is going to mess up Craig's list, too! Use it while ya can because it too will soon be a mess if Greedbay is tinkering with it....

Don't they own part of Craig's List? If so, fees are inevitable. Ebay does nothing out of the goodness of its "heart". LOL
