I think I'm in the exact mindset right now that you are. I have paid for my PSU website, but am at a total loss as to how to set it up. It is a lot of work when you do not know the banners, html, etc.
I thought I culd do it, but maybe not. If you find out where that "magical" site is that you can set up in hours- will you be kind enough to let me know?

Ecrater is really easy to set up. The only thing the least bit trying is the postage matrix, but once you decide what weight to start with you can copy it from the USPS or UPS, or both.

Oh, and for websites - Yahoo has them at varying levels of cost. They also have different website setup programs, varying in difficulty, and they include templates, or you can use HTML, Perl, etc.

Here's a free banner site - Super Duper Easy

I agree eCRATER is a good starter site. NO listing fee's, NO final value fee's. They give you the basics of setting it up as you go along. They have help tags as you go. I also agree the the shipping matrix is VERY complicated, and have not figured it out. So an easy way out was to ship my items flat rate to everyone. I have not listed bigger items where it won't work.

eCRATER also gives you google seach on your items.

The first site I set up on after hearing of feebays new policies was Wagglepop. I loved the set up, it was very much like feebay. No counter to be able to see who has looked at your items though. eCRATER has it. I dropped it after 2 months of $9.95 per month, no sales.

I'm on IOFFER and BIDVILLE. Both have pros and cons. No activity on IOFFER, one sale on BIDVILLE.

My best site so far is GUNBROKER. Definately a specialty site, but very good activity.

I hope this is not to long, and that it might help you. Also google search nevadacyclesales , you will see 14 pages of hits. These are all from eCRATER and PSU forms.

good luck Lynn

To the OP.
With lot's of help from psunite I built my humble elgatosden.com a couple of years ago here at PSU.

I also opened stores at ecrater and blujay yet have NEVER sold anything at either along with many other "alternative online listing venues".

My own PSU web store brings in $$ most every month, thanks to me marketing THAT store which cost me very little to operate and once learned, is a snap to manage :D
This week alone I sold a vintage Coca Cola bench ($150) and 2 Cowboy Hats ($29.50ea) :D

No matter where you chose to list your items an online and B&M seller needs to MARKET your store.

I'm seriously thinking about ending my EC and BJ stores. Both have lot's of veiws yet views doesn't put bread on my table here at home. Oh BTW, my second largest online store is at loudfrog.com which allows offsite sales. :D

You will need other exposure but a yahoo site is easy to set up. Download sitebuilder (free) and use it. If you like it pay and upload what you have made if you don't, it is all free. You only pay if you upload. Free unlimited trial if you don't upload live online.

Hello,

I am on Yahoo....Easy setup with design wizard. Up and running in 2-3 hours. I have had sales...not alot. But it is all do to marketing. I do use their pay per click. I used their product submit which was cheaper but with no luck. You are going to have to pay to have your site marketed. No doubt about it. All depends on what your budget is. Another thing is i had Ebays prostores before yahoo and had no luck at all and no help. Yahoo's folks are very knowledgeable and very helpful.

When you set up with Yahoo, are you a subdomain or are you able to use your own domain name without the Yahoo tag? Thanks.
