I know this has sort of been posted before, but I'm wondering about posting items for sale from my website. However, what I want to know, is with CL, can you post to ONLY ship items? I would really prefer to just keep my business on the internet and not have to be making appointments for people to come over, etc. etc. And if so, where do you actually list? Do you just pick a city and state and put up an ad for an item, and state "will ship only?" I do have ecrater stores and have been Paypal verified since 2001 and can provide photos of each item. Or will people think I'm a scam, if I state that I do mail order only?

Just wondering!

I've got a few items listed at CL but do not offer for people to pick up at my home, mainly because of where I live is rather rural and difficult to find.
On CL you can also post items in certain regions of the country to where buyers would almost have to pay for shipping. I prefer to post mine in the more rurual areas because of what I sell.

Perhaps other CL users can better assist you.

Good luck!

I sell online only using Blujay but if I need fast cash, high dollar merchandise, or something bulky I use CL. In honesty, most CL'ers are wary of those wanting to ship only but no harm in trying. I would use CL to move higher end merchandise/bulky items and don't have to meet at your home, meet at a very close public location. If you were trying to sell items from website I would post ads in a couple of big cities areas that are closer to you and see what happens. That's the difficult thing with CL if you want to ship and if you put links in there they are flagged down, etc. Good luck in your endeavors, I use CL regularly but I haven't even attempted using CL to ship items.

Yep...it is a scam. He wants to know your full name, address and phone number and said he would pay you via cashiers check or a check...yet he lives in England? Check CL under autos and many posts get flagged and removed because scammers just take a pic of a vehicle, post it on CL and give a fake location, which is usually out of state. They will ask that you send your payment thru a phony escrow service and that the vehicle will be shipped for free. The price for the vehicle is always lowballed because there is no vehicle. Its that old motto of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

I sell big stuff on CL and also check the wanted stuff to see if I have something someone is looking for. I live in a rural area and meet them at a local gas station about 5 miles from my house. Since I am about 20 miles from the edge of a big city, if I am going to town I will meet them in a public location, usually a busy convenience store parking lot. Not that I am paranoid but believe strangers don't need to know where I live.

I would steer clear and block him from sending any more emails as people can find you by your ISP addy.

Hi,I listed it on there because the 6 panels alone would be 36' long. The gates and posts are heavy so they would have to come to my house to pick it up. Its too bad that these people are all over trying to scam all they can. To ship it to England would cost alot of money. E-You,Later!

Craigslist really isn't for the folks who want to ship only. From my experience, people who cl in my area who are not from around here get flagged and emailed about inappropriate . It is against Craigslist TOS to post NONLOCAL ads, to post web addresses or lead folks to them intentionally, to post in more than one metropolitan area, etc. There are nasty fees if you do this sort of a thing because you become in CL's eyes a business. Insisting folks pay to ship your items does the same thing. Just read the terms of service on the front page if you have any question about it.

I think the fee is like $25 per business email. They do have employees who do random checks and they take complaints.

If you are the kind of person who would not be
concerned about having a garage sale or yard sale,
I would not be concerned about selling locally on Craigslist.

You will most likely find Craigslist much easier than
trying to deal with a group of people at a yard sale.

I do not invite people to come over and browse through
everything I have for sell.

Buyers have to reserve specific items which I have
ready for them on a table I have right inside the front door.

I have buyers step in so they can look at the items
I reserved for them, but its not required.

Two years of selling on Craigslist and everyone
that has come over to pick up items has been
polite and courteous.

I guess if someone showed up that looked really
scary, I would just hand them the stuff on
the front porch (lol). Havn't had this happen yet.

I sold at a fleamarket for 15+ years, dealing with
a pretty rough crowd (including lots of shoplifters). For
someone like me, Craigslist is a piece of cake.

I'm really addicted to buying and selling on Craigslist.
No listing fees. No PayPal Fees. No Packing and
trips to the Post Office. No Postage Fees. I love it.
