The new servers are installed and will be fully integrated this week - they're super-fast and will be exactly what is needed for the continued rapid growth we expect on the site. The expanded IT crew is working to take care of any existing problems and they're making some major alterations to improve your OLA experience.

As OLA rises and Ebay falls from grace, make sure to wave at them as they go under :)

Ebay couldn't break wind back in the 90's without crashing their server. LOL!!!

I am still looking for a site to sell on besides eBay. Is OLA going to advertise their site to attact new buyers and sellers? I still see not many sales on there, but it looks like they are trying to improve things to compete with ebay. :? What are sellers opinions of the sales they have on it right now? I have a lot of money tied up in my anitque dolls. I need to get my money out of them, have supported the ebay strike, but will have to unload them soon. I work full time and do my doll stuff as a hobby, am running out of room since the strike I haven't sold any and need to get my money out of them. I am willing to try OLA if they plan to advertise a lot, and keep making their site better. Any sellers opinon on selling there would be appreciated.

Why don't you go over to OLA and do a search of the type of doll that you make and sell. See what they have offered. Check out the prices, etc. Maybe contact some of the sellers of those dolls and ask how they've been doing.

Innerpuppie- I don't make my own dolls, they are real vintage and antique dolls from the 1800's. 1900's, 30's,40, 50, and 1960's. Most of the dolls I do see on the site are cheaper new dolls, from the 70's or 80's or lower scale priced dolls. I don't see any real antique dolls, so would have to have a reserve on them, not to give them away. They need to get more sellers of antique merchandise on there, so I do not know if they have any buyers at this time for more expspensive high end dolls.

OLA is nothing more than another half baked
eBay wannabe. Promises to implement very basic
things like a Google feed have been heard since
well over a year ago and they are *still* trying to
get it in place. Their idea of advertising the site
is bumper stickers, flyers, etc. and having their
cheerleaders clog forums and newsgroups with
their endless swooning over how great OLA is. A
major site upgrade they did previously was so
badly botched it was laughable.

If you really want to read the truth about OLA and
get an unvarnished view of seller's experiences
there I would suggest you read through comments
in the following old thread from here on PSU:

There are tons of online store malls listed in the classifieds. You could set up store at one of the online malls. There are some gorgeous store templates that you can buy on eBay. One designer I just love is IN-MY-CEDAR-CHEST. She has some things listed in the classifieds on eBay now that you can't sell digital. She will also help you design your store. A really nice seller.

innerpuppie -

Serious question re your recommendation of your friend, the template designer.

"...IN-MY-CEDAR-CHEST. She has some things listed in the classifieds on eBay."

How do you find the classifieds, let alone your friend, on eBay? I find no reference to "classifieds" in my searches (or anywhere else, for that matter). Can you get to them via the general eBay portal?

innerpuppie, thanks for the advice, I will check out that seller you mentioned. As far as Gaelicititca warning me about OLA, it does give me second thoughts about it. Thanks also for your opinion. I have looked at all the alternative sites listed on this board and they all seemn unacceptable. Most of them are a maze to get thru just from the home page to finding the catagory you want, and then you seee 0 bids on most of them. Many sellers claim in a year on some of these sites they have maybe one sale a month, or none. This is not something I can wait a year for, since I stopped selling on ebay to support the strike, I can't wait a year to have 30 sales. I need something now and fast to get my money out of my merchandise. I have checked into GoDaddy.com where you can get a web site you do yourself a nice one for $4.99 a month and they are quality. Plus the customer service is excellent , I just called them about websites and they were very helpful and polite. You can also purchase web domain names cheap there, etc. This site really seems to have it together, maybe we should all email Mr. Go Daddy himself, you go to email and suggestions and ask him to start up a separate auction site like eBay used to be and tell him why we need it and need it now. I think he is smart and has the means to do it. Go to GoDaddy.com and check out their site anyway if you want to have your own web site, I was impressed with it. If anyone else has had any experiences with them, or web sites with them let us know.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I think all us sellers are getting very depressed and angry about ebay and where it leaves us. The other sites just don't have the sales and the we need a place where we can all go to at the same time and put ebay  in its place :D

If you do a search for "auction templates" on eBay, her templates will come up. Those that are classified ads LOOK different than the others. You can spot them in a heartbeat.

DOLLYWAY, the last thing anyone wants is for a seller to lose his or her home, need money for groceries, not be able to pay their bills due to supporting the eBay strike/walk-out...whatever it really is called. There are many who still sell on eBay who are supportive of those who are not selling. I, initially, didn't sell on the bay and looked for other places for my items. I tried OLA and didn't have much luck. I also list on ETSY and eCrater BUT...my sales come from eBay, no getting around that. I can't just not sell. eBay isn't my only income but it provides for me the extra money I need to feel...well, less than poor  So if you need to sell, go where you can sell and at the same time explore all of your other options.

Gotta agree with this thought.

Check out the sites yourself instead of worrying about what other people say.

Considering OLA founder already o-mail and an auction manager before ebay did growing with OLA will be an awesome experience...And a heck of a lot cheaper than building up ebay.

We already know how the ebay story ends whether you are boycotting now or back in 2004 ;)

Excellent reading for anyone who is interested in listing with OLA. It may be a bit outdated but what was said then is current now. Not a thing has changed. And, ndallen3, why did you change your name to RummageSale when you got the yellow card with the hand slap? If you didn't want to be detected you should have changed your writing style and mannerisms. Very transparent.

Read the above thread. It sure is an eye-opener! Flame away at me OLA. I'm ready and have my suit on.
