So back to MOAAS or what ever we are going to call the new search engine.

Can we start with some questions

What we need?

A timescale?

What people want it to do?

Is what people want from it achievable?

How much and what kind of help will be required?

How willing are the alt auctions willing to help out and/or is there any way they could make it easier to build and operate the search engine?

What sort of costs we looking at?
Once we know this we can look at the best way to get the money.

Hope you enjoyed the break.

What do I want? In an ideal world:

Search as many sites as we can think of and be able to add more later.

Results current to at least the past 24 hours.

Combine all results on one page.

Able to sort the results by title, site, price, bids, closing.

Some way to limit by category.

Some way to limit by site.

Search able to simply use wildcards, or, and, not and phrases. I happen to think ebay's method is the easiest - everything listed is searched for (AND); within parenthesis is OR, - means NOT, and "" means phrase, boot* finds anything starting with boot.

Thumbnail from either gallery pic or largest available picture in the listing.

That's an ideal world. For now, I would be happy if my Google CSE would return ALL page results indexed by Google, rather than an arbitrary 1/3.

I would work on getting the sites that don't feed to Google Products included first. I don't mind looking in a few places, but not a thousand. I would also put a link to BidFind and BidHopper and FetchBid and work on the sites they don't include first, for the same reasons.

A live auctions-only search might be a good sub-search if possible.

I noted USiFF created a search to pull from other sites, but I haven't looked at it in a while. Renee is certainly welcome as she has skillz ;)
