|
|
Bidville has gone down over 250,000 listings over the last few days. I guess the migration has begun. It sorta makes me think of an e_commerce version of The Trail of Tears.
That means that at least 250,000 items (and growing) are going to end up somewhere else.
I am curious as to where people are moving, why they chose the new site and how many listings they are moving to their new site (or sites).
This is just for Bidville Users only.
Take the poll and let us know if you are moving to a free site (such as BluJay, BISI or eCrater) or a pay site (such as eBid, OLA, or Plunderhere) or if you have decided to open your own site.
Please no spam from other sites or their supporters talking about the merits of coming to a particular site.

As much as I would like to see everyone come together
and get behind one site, I can't stand the two current
leaders.
Ioffer charges FVFs and the site is extremely slow.
Ecrater is one of the worst designed sites I've tried .
The navigation is terrible.
From a previous eCrater thread:
Had some friends sit in front of my computer and ask
them to purchase multiple items from an ecrater store.
What a disaster. It was so bad we couldn't quit laughing.
Did the same thing with Blujay stores. They were
purchasing multiple items and checking out without a
single pause.
As I suspected, categories in the left column is the key.
When you click on the "continue shopping" button, both
ecrater and blujay return the buyer to the store homepage.
No problem on Blujay. The catgories are on the left hand column of the store hompage.
Everyone got hung up on the ecrater store homepage. |

I also posted this on other blogs.
I admit, I am angry with ebay. very angry!!!! I didn't make alot of money but i did make money. they took 1/4+ of my gross sales in fees... that was bad enough, and then they screwed us more. I was a good seller. I was an honest seller. I did not leave neg. if it was a matter of neg or nothing i left nothing. I am rated as "good" on the dashboard. it doesn't matter. What matters is how they are treating the people who made them who they are. I've closed my store, and I refuse to buy or sell on ebay. nothing. nill! I have listed some things on ecrater and ioffer with no success so i admit, i miss ebaym i miss the sales.... they ebay before these new policies. what can we do. not a whole hell of a lot it seems. we are all going in our seperate directions to smaller sites. how much traffic do these sites have? are we just selling to each other?
we need a solution people. we need to organize, we need to group and stand together. take one small place and make it big. take two small places, get them to merge and make them great.
psu has a huge membership... i realize many of the people here are ebay supporters, but then again, many are not.... why cant we make an auction site right here? why dont we all spread the word? attach signatures to all of our outgoing email.... commersialize, advertise, tv., radio, the www? ebay is not king.... it went to their heads.... they CAN be taken down. the key i think, lies in organization and dedication. we need to start a group for nothing more than solutions.
I watch the ebay forums... alot of whiners yet the whiners are still buying and selling on ebay.... ebay wont crumble that way. they need competition, REAL competition because they are an internet giant.
lets start a group to bury ebay, make new competition, remind ebay who made them, maybe even make the nasdaq. Any thoughts?
best regards to all. |

Hodgepodge; Same here. Over the last 8 years I've
invested serious time listing items on the "alternatives"
with very few sales.
Not enough sales to justify the time spent listing.
(Even for free).
I seriously doubt if sellers will find any consistent
success until we are able to get behind ONE site.
Easier said than done. I've done some listing with
Blujay because you are free to list and link to your
websites/groups etc.
Blujay is the only current site I would support, but
it is clearly lagging behind iOffer and ecrater in
traffic and listings. |

I can hardly stomach the eBay boards. It's like the
masses have been brainwashed into submission. |

Missing poll option: All of the above.
Seriously folks, hedge your bets, don't put all of your eggs into one basket. |

compu2,
I whole hearteldly agree.... especially one forum in particular that i watch, a certain few have gotten so caugt up in bickering back and forth, they forgot what it was all about to begin with. childish!
we need to get with the organizers of a site i think. tell them what we want, maybe several sites, see who comes through for us.
Since all the turmoid with ebay, a lot of auction sites say they are going to be the best yet, where is the traffic? where are the buyers? we cant sell without them.
PSU has some power. Why dont we start with them? get them maybe to hold an official vote or something. PSU comes up alot on ebay forums. usually by the ebay supporters who hide under ficticious names bashing PSU members and supporters, but if they are talking about us, we exist and we are strong. |

| Busy, that photo is great. And you cant stage these moments. Whoever snapped the photo caught a jewel. Is she one of yours? |

Busy -- that is a true darling of a picture; and an adorable little girl!
Unfortunately, even my grandkids have now evolved to the older, not quite so cute stage (you know, somewhere between youthful and hooligan). My wife and I now have to wait for the next generation for consistent cute! |

My children are at the stage where everything in life is new and exciting. I am envious of them and wish I could see the world through their eyes.
I give my son a quick, lopsided grin and then I fake a sneeze and he just bursts out laughing.
My daughter is 18 months old and is full of wonder whenever she sees a flock of birds and the zoo is the most fabulous place in the world to her. |

I've traveled all over this planet of ours during my life. I find it remarkable that no matter where I traveled; in war zones, relatively peaceful areas drenched in poverty, big cities, small towns, rural emptiness -- and regardless of color, all kids are so very similar in nature -- open and friendly, just seeking knowledge and acknowledgment with no strings attached. It's just a shame they have to grow up and assume the responsibilities and burdens of the adults before them.
Enjoy your kids at this stage, Patch. Although you never loose the love for your kids, they lose that innocent charm your kids radiate in your picture all too fast. They all seem to transition from the truly curious, open to exploring their expanding universe, to "know it alls" way too fast. |

Figured I would give this a bump. Sorry it got off subject.
4 Votes for a free site.
1 Vote for "All of the Above".
I didnt put that because that was not my mindset although others do feel that way.
My theory has always been, "strength in numbers". While you dont put all of your eggs into one basket you can put all of the same color eggs into one basket.
For example.
My patches I use eBay and my own site.
My novelties and accessories I use eBay and free sites. My eggs are in more than one basket but my leanings are to free sites.
I have mentioned once before somewhere. "There are too many baskets and not enough eggs".
So for those who would like an "All of the Above" button, just choose which style you use the most if you use several styles. |
