Quote: › docWrite("quote")It's my hope that there are some "changes" in the wind. I will be watching very closely. As I update my database with new product, I still load it to my store inventory in my bulk lister. As soon as I see a GLIMMER of hope....my store goes back up and fills.

Quoting myself from the sad thread about BV & hoping to start a happier thread.

Looking at the message board, I see ALOT of work going on already in the "missing listings" issues. I clicked around last night and today as fast as I could to as many auction listings, stores, searches & browings and note lightening fast response. They've cleaned off old messages too (they slow down the site--not to mention most of them were crap).

A toast to a "glimmer of hope," because if BV is back better than before, my store will be back ASAP!!! Here's to a fresh start!

Still watching....

Thanks for the positive post about BV. I, too, have noticed the clean-up has started on the forums - old posts removed in at least 2 places - missing auctions are reappearing, FINALLY an official announcement from BV management, and just generally better functionality. :)

Although I never planned on leaving until the end, now I'm hoping for bigger and better things at BV. Of all the auction sites I list on, this is where I consider to be home base.

Only time will tell, but things are sounding better.

Hi,
I also see a glimmer of hope. I started listing a few items
today. I still have hope they will come back. :D :D

They are making some much needed repairs to the auto-relisting problem and have cleaned up the boards quite a bit. I haven't gotten stuck moving around on the site in days & they helped me with my own boo-boo within hours. Already seems like a better place to me!

Watching & hoping,

There is a new announcement on their boards regarding the FVF refunds:

http://www.bidville.com/community/messages/forums.asp?forum=5

They seem to be busy at trying to make repairs, as they mention working on the auto-relist problem next.

They pop out and say something, then they go hide, not good.
2 years and owner or owners or person in charge has never spoke to users on their forums, not good.
Turn key, own and run, not good. Dumb? you call it.

I've only been there a short time and there's been alot of improvements going on that I can see, with the boards being cleaned up and updates from management. Plus, I listed this week and got a bid in less than 24 hours - I'm pleased with the site and plan on sticking with it.

Here's an email I got today from Bidville:

"Dear poohssheepskin,

Bidville has recently made many updates and changes to the listing
and re-listing processes. We are currently working hard to make
searching, browsing, buying, and selling on Bidville more user
friendly. All of the updates have been started to help make Bidville
faster and more stable. The following is a list of changes that are
in the process of being implemented.

Any items that expired more than 90 days ago will be removed from Bidville.

The maximum number of automatic re-lists has been changed from
twenty (20) to five (5). This re-list number may be used for any
listing duration time: 5, 7, 14, 20, or 30 days. Also, notice we have
removed the three (3) and ten (10) day auction durations. The thirty
day auction duration will also be removed.

Items that have a 'Fixed Price' (where the opening bid and Take It Price
are the same) will not actually 're-list'. The auction will end when
there is a bid, or when the total duration requested is up. For example,
you list an item for 10 days, with 4 auto re-lists, or for 20 days with
2 auto-relists. In both cases, your item will be listed for 40 days or
until sold. There is no need to relist. All listings will have a maximum
duration of 120 days. (One initial 20 day duration and five 20 day relists.)

For example, you list a 'Fixed Price' auction for a 20 day duration time
with 4 automatic relists. Your item will run for 100 days (initial 20 days
plus 80 days of relists). As a bonus, 'Fixed Price' items listed with
gallery, home page feature, or any other enhancement will keep the
enhancements with no additional charge for the duration of the auction
listing (maximum of 120 days). Previously, the enhancements would have
expired during re-lists.

Also, we will be enforcing rules to eliminate "spamming" of auctions
(placing multiple copies of the same item, at the same price, for the
same duration). This technique is used by many sellers since there are
no listing fees on Bidville. (There are some sellers with hundreds of
copies of the same item posted.) The new rule is to disallow this practice.
If you have multiple quantities of an item, it should be a Dutch auction,
not multiple auctions.

We are in the process of removing all auctions that are duplicates
that you, the seller, had listed. If you had more than one item listed
with the same exact title, starting price, and quantity, you will now
only have one (1) of that item listed on Bidville. This will help buyers
find what they are looking for easier without having to go through
multiples of the same item listings.

Bidville is also in the process of programming a 'Fixed Price' and
Take It Dutch auction option. Once completed, you may list multiple
quantities of the same item in one Take It auction or 'Fixed Price'
auction listing. This option has never been available on Bidville before.

We are confident that the above changes (along with many more to come)
will have a positive effect on the Bidville Community as a whole. The
website will operate more efficiently and buying and selling will be easier.

If you have any questions about the improvements and updates to the
listing processes, please let us know by posting in the Bidville Help
section or by contacting Bidville Customer Service.

Thank you for continuing to grow with us,

The Bidville Team

Yup - I received the same notification.

However ... while I'm in touch with one of the moderators in regards
to Bidville - I will continue NOT to post anything in here, You see -
their offices and buildings are right around the corner from me.

Yep...the improvements are fantastic!

As you can tell from the auction site counts, they are cleaning out the database of duplicate item listings & old dead/abandoned auctions.

They are making listing policy changes and posting on their announcement boards.

Good things are happening at Bidville and I'm sure happy for them!

There are a few glitches here and there, likely some of the old ones that needed fixing and some new ones caused by the changes....but the fog will clear soon....and LOOK OUT EBAY!

Here's the latest from Bidville:

Dear poohssheepskin

We are pleased to announce that wonderful things are happening at Bidville.com. As you may know, Bidville experienced tremendous growth over the past year. As a result, we experienced significant "growing pains" which prevented members from experiencing all Bidville has to offer. Those days are over.

There are so many improvements to Bidville, it would be difficult to list them all in this email. In summary, we've successfully addressed almost all major areas that needed improvement. And we are still working at it.

The site is fast and reliable. Please check our announcements in the Bidville Community Center for details on our progress. There is a new energy among the community! Here is a link:
http://www.bidville.com/community/messages/

We are most proud of our new VIP Program which helps prevent fraud by verifying a member's identity by telephone. For details and for the opportunity to join this free program, please visit this link:
http://www.bidville.com/help/vip_beta.asp

You can also find details about our new SAFE Program for preventing fraudulent bidders. And, the release of our new CHECKOUT system is coming soon. Details can be found here:
http://www.bidville.com/help/safe_beta.asp

If you haven't been to Bidville in a while, please come back and take a look. We think you will like what you see. If you don't have a Bidville Storefront, now is the time to prepare for the holidays.

Thank you all once again for continuing to grow with Bidville.

The Bidville Team
