|
|
Several months ago, I saw a seller with an active link below the ad that said, "click here for more items". When I clicked it, I was on the seller's website.
I know you're not allowed to put a website address on CL, so how did this seller create an active link taking the buyer directly to their website?
I showed the ad to a friend of mine, and he didn't know how to do it either. There was no www or .com, just "click here for more items".
What is the step by step to create an active link, and has anyone tried it? |

CL accepts basic html. More than likely, that's what they used.
I've got some items up there, and used bold, italics, etc. I've got a link out (to more information about an item for sale), but just used the 'link' itself.
Have you tried basic html for the link or is that what ya need help with?
I would not do it - if it's against the rules - my own personal thoughts. I do suggest the person can google '2boysandtoys' to find more items we offer.  8) |

Hi Erin
I don't remember seeing anything about active links not permitted on CL, only that addresses are not allowed, unless I missed seeing it.
The seller's ad was still there a few days later, so I think it is permitted.
I am totally clueless on html because when I was selling on Ebay, there was no need to know about it.
I am severely challenged when it comes to knowing all the technical things a seller should know to promote a business, and wouldn't know where to begin. |

Kellie - is the link you want to include here in your siggie? If so, I'll happily play with it and see if I can get the html code for you.
If it's not - just shout where ya want it and I'll se if I can help you.
I honestly had not (yet) read the rules over there. So - guess it might be time for that too - eh?
I put up a few items that are just too large to ship or that I needed gone quickly. We sold a BR set a few weeks ago and a few more odds/ends... |

Kellie - here's the code in Bold to have your store appear within the description area on CL! I tested it and what will show is just your store name, "Classic Jewelry Boutique".
If you want to modify the words that folks will see, just replace the words between the > and the < (Classic....Boutique) with desired - Check this out, etc.
<a href="http://www.classicjewelryboutique.ecrater.com/">Classic Jewelry Boutique</a>
Shout if you have issues - there are others here who are far better than I with HTML - I know enuf to survive!! |

Kellie. This is from CL. Looks like it okay to have a link.

Thanks for the info love2shop. I haven't checked their rules since the time I had several ads on CL, about a year ago.
Maybe the following information will be helpful as to what I did on my ads at the time.
You can put your business name and the site you are selling on in your ad, as long as it is not in the form of an address.
If you are, "SallySeaShells.ecrater.com, you cannot post it in your ad. You can say, "I sell beautiful seashells from around the world. Come visit me at SallySeaShells on ecrater."
My ads were worded that way and I never had a problem with it.
My challenge is to do the html in the ad. Hope I do it right. |

| Question. If I remove the name of my store between ><and>click here for more items<, will that create the direct link to my store? |

That post didn't come out right. Sorry.
If I remove the name of my store between the arrows, > <and>click here for more items<, will that create the direct link to my store? |

LOL! Shows how little I know about html, but it seems the placement of the arrows in my question, are preventing part of the question from appearing!!
No arrows, just the question. If I remove the name of my store between the arrows, and replace it with," click here for more items," will that create the direct link to my store? |

Kellie - you are thinking exactly as needed! So - if you want to input what you've got, the original code:
<a href="http://www.classicjewelryboutique.ecrater.com/">Classic Jewelry Boutique</a>
Would become:
<a href="http://www.classicjewelryboutique.ecrater.com/">Click here to see more items.</a>
If one clicks as instructed, they'll arrive at your eCrater store.
Sorry - had to go play softball!!  |

| Make sure what you post on CL is not blatant looking spam else you'll get flagged as quickly as you post. |
