"4. Look for the logo. When buying new electrical appliances, look for the Energy Saving Recommended logo - a blue wedge - which indicates an efficient appliance that will be cheaper to run. Replacing an old, inefficient fridge-freezer could save you a fortune every year. "
This weekend,North Carolina had a tax free weekend when you bought a Energy Star product.
Also, you can buy clothes patterns and make your own clothes.
I have been hearing how people are buying more used cars rather buying a new one. They rather fix it up than buy a new one too.
Use coupons when you buy grocerys.
Go to yard sales, flea markets and live auctions. You'd be amazed how much you can save there.

Most areas have a Freecycle Network.
"Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,627 groups with 6,097,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on “Browse Groups” above the search box. Have fun! "

I've been able to get rid of a lot of things I would have thrown out (If only I could bring myself to throwing...anything out) and have picked up some needed items.
Check it out. |
