Hi everyone and greetings from cold Canada!
I have couple questions about changing the DSN address from my old domain to here:

It takes some time to happen I guess. Meantime, will my email keep working off the old place and then at some point be transferred here nearly instantly or will there be a downtime? I know I need to set up the mailboxes here with same names first but that should not be problem right?

And secondly: will I be able to ftp-upload some pictures here and start hosting them from here right away? What is the folder structure here? mu old url would be something like http://www.inmaservices.com/im/08071316.jpg and I am transferring the inmaservices.com here - will I be able to create my "im" folder in the root somewhere or will the URLs need to be changed?

I have registered last night and have no confirmation yet (neither payment charged to pp yet) is it normal time frame? ( I am not inpatient, just... uhhmmm... a bit inpatient :))

Thanks a lot
Pete

Hey Pete!

Welcome to PSU! :) :)

Depending on the registrar, and whether the new name servers were set properly, propagation through the Internet could take an hour, hours, or a day or two.

That said, your best bet for answers to the questions you're asking would be to email PSU admin directly.

And lately, BTW, you folks in Canada have not had a monopoly on cold... it's been unseasonably cold here in NY State lately.

Hi & thanks for replying - you're not that far, I know your area gets as cold as we do up here and probably more snowy... but you are 5hrs closer to the warm places...

First thing you should do is go into cpanel and create the same email accounts. There should be no down time. Both emails at both servers will work. When your DNS propagates some will go to the new server and some will goto the new server. So you will be getting and checking email on your old server and next thing you know you will be getting it on the new server it will be transparent.

There is a set folder structure already in place for the PSU store. But you can also create your own folders. So if you want to keep the same structure just create a "im" directory in public_html or www
