| It would seem that 600 workers could get something going before a 2 year period. Seems like a Rumor to me, but my guess is just that, a guess!!! 8) |

From what I remember (I could be wrong) Google DID buy property and build something in the Phoenix area and there were to be 600 workers there.
But that is as far as any public info ever got. All the rest about WHAT they were doing there was just speculation.
Late this summer, my local news also reported that both Google and Intel signed contracts for projects they will do in the Madison Wi area. Nothing huge like the Phoenix thingy.
But both of these were reportedly because of U-Wi and their computer dept. NOTHING to do with auctions.

What I heard was that eBay played hardball with Google. Ebay runs the most Google ads. Anytime you Google something, you get Donahoe telling you to run to eBay to buy it, even if you've Googled "bubonic plague."
Google blinked. They figured it was better to have eBay ad money than spend years and years trying to build up a competing site. I think they also saw how eBay killed off the use of Google payments on eBay.
Ebay is very much a Nazi organization, and they rule by bullying, intimidation, and a perplexing bunch of rules that leave everyone running mouse mazes and begging just to be allowed to stay on the site. |

| Something tells me that Google is never going to do that. I think they already have enough problems dealing managing their search engine nevermind taking on the online auction market that Ebay has dominated for over 10 years. |
