I think this would be a good time to revisit this topic.
Currently we do not allow ebay stores in our Users Storefronts link page.
Should we bend the rules and allow them or should we continue to not allow them? |

| Nah, I think that eBay stores get plenty of advertising. This encourages members to support at least ONE alternative. |

Ditto on the NO votes...Ebay has enough registered users/listed items/links and need not any more exposure....
When they were new, honest, helpful and exciting, maybe, but not anymore...
Ebay makes enough $$ to promote every store and or listed item 10 times over...

| Ditto on no. Let's not help eBay. We don't need to reinvigorate them as they keep shooting themselves in the foot  |

Did someone lose their thought processes on asking this question?
Let Feebay/Greedbay right where they are! Which is OUT of here!

OK - I'm the dimwit who said YES....do NOT throw things at me....I'm just an open-minded person and know that many folks here are listing at the bay and by goodness - I believe that sellers should have the freedom to list whatever store/site/etc. they want....
I'm ducking big-time - so any thrown objects will be deflected back at ya!!! :D :D :D  |

I completely agree with you, and I almost voted yes. I'm just thinknig that for this site, we should keep it non-eBay and support hte smaller sites.
eBay doesn't need the promotion from this site and I doubt it cares. What matters is that sellers have stores there because they need the sales. Very few sellers are able to live off the sales from the alternatives (many aren't even MAKING sales on these small sites, nevermind enough to satisfy them) and they have the right to post on an auction site that runs ads, does the SEO work, gets the publicity, even spams the keywords (lol).
Again, my vote is no, but I don't think this is a dimwit topic by any means. People place their eBay stores in their signatures here, and I completely agree with that. In this case, those with eBay stores aren't making much of a sacrafice AND are being encouraged to open a store at an alternative so I believe the User Storefronts should be off-limits. I'm not a zealous "No" by any means lol. |

Uhmmm......
NO
Let's not forget the mission of this site. I already feel "bad" enough that I had to open a store for the season. LOL

| I voted NO as well. This site is full of tons of other options and great information. If a company wants so badly to be listed here, they should open a store at ecrater or blujay. |

| Okay, I have an eBay store, I feel eBay can afford its own advertising at what it charges. Why give them free advertisements. I vote NO. |

Sliding head out from behind the couch.....Oh good - no rocks thrown...
I guess in my way of thinking - a seller should NOT feel bad for listing over yonder and while we will continue to work together and alone to find alternatives, many have to or make the choice to continue listing over there.
Perhaps I'm too simple in my thoughts. We all know that the buyers are very aware of the bay, but there are and have been many successful sellers over there who may have a wealth of knowledge to share and give here (as we all try and do), and I wouldn't want ANYONE to feel unwelcome if that venue works for them.
I'm 100% in support of the majority vote but just wonder if this isn't a little closed-minded in support of our mission in life...
When (not if) we find an alternate site that works, they best way to keep buyers returning is to offer many options, many items, multi sellers, various terms and conditions, etc. Competition breeds competition and sales directly result (IMHO).
So (as I climb back behind the couch), I'm looking at this completely different. I agree the site doesn't need any additional support/links/referrals. But - might we (as sellers) benefit from those over "there" that may be also looking for a different/secondary site - but feel unwelcome here? DUCKING LOW now........... :o :o |

points well stated, and taken.
however, ANYONE that is reading the postings on psunite, are well aware of ebay.
the majority of those at this site are probably here because they have been wronged in one way or another by ebay or paypal.
ebay or paypal has and will not do anything to support or enhance this site, or those they have wronged who support this site.
many of the smaller sites that are trying to compete against ebay do contribute and enhance this site.
they, and, the wronged members who are here could very easily take it as a slap in the face to all of a sudden start supporting ebay.
ebay does not need the support, is not deserving of the support, and DEFINITELY would not acknowledge or thankful for it.
i am sure ebay is aware of this site, and all the smaller sites that are giving them competion. i am also sure, that the high and mighty at ebay sit back and laugh at all of this while they count THEIR money, which used to be YOURS and MY money.
there is an old show business saying that fits very well here when applied to those high and mighty ebay execs who WE made rich: "WHEN CLIMBING THE LADDER OF SUCCESS, BE CAREFUL WHO YOU STEP ON ON THE WAY UP... YOU JUST MAY MEET THEM ON THE WAY DOWN!" |
