OV - I hear all that you're saying and I think you missed my point. I'll try to clarify...(then hide again)...
1. I've not been wronged over there. Shut down a few auctions, but not the end of the world.
2. I'm in support of All Sellers and multi-sites. I'll not be loyal to one until it allows me to retire.
3. Allowing bay Storefronts doesn't support the bay - it supports a seller (IMHO).
We are seeing this differently. You see a link to a bay store in the storefront as support for the site. I see it as support for the seller. I'm going to by from sellers I select; not necessarily based on their site of choice.
Sliding low behind the couch now!! :D |

Quote: › docWrite("quote")Power Sellers Unite will continue to be here to help sellers. We are going to shift our focus away from the boycott and on helping sellers find alternative auction sites and promote their listings.
I don't think we're keeping eBay sellers out...we're here to help ALL sellers (each other)...no matter where we sell.
And to clarify. No one here has made me feel bad for listing over yonder. Really. I think some of us "feel bad" because we left yonder & swore never to return. LOL Or because we're trying to make a go at other sites, but are trying to make some needed cash flow during the holiday season to keep going & frankly...to sell, we still have to list there. heh
All my emails to eBay buyers have the same signature line, directing them to my web site & hopefully either my shopping cart or the other alternative sites I am listing on.
So come out from behind the couch my love. You are entitled to your opinion & your opinion does hold merit. It's just that eBay stores really don't need any more exposure. Mine started selling the day I put it up, for example.
I don't think any of the sellers over there are a bit shy of joining here if they know about it. LOL NEVER have I met a shy eBay seller. So to all eBay sellers considering joining..."Come on in...walk into the light! All are welcome...All are welcome"

Well, I have to agree with 2BOYSandTOYS. My opinion is that we should be supporting each other as sellers....not necessarily the venue in which we choose to or have to sell on in order to make ends meet. I left eBay for about 3 months, and had to reopen my store. It is currently the only place I have gotten any sales at all.
So, I vote 'YES' to allowing the eBay storefronts. I think it would also give this site more exposure in the search engines.

i understand, and fully agree with what you are saying.
it is sad that ebay has left a bad taste in many of our mouths, and that some sellers suffer by "association" with ebay.
i am in FULL support of any legitimate seller, regardless of where they choose to sell.
it is ebay i am against, not the seller or their site choice.
again, i understand, and do agree with what you are saying, but i still would vote no based on the reasons in my previous post.
"association" is why i was suspended from ebay. someone else in this same zip code had the same name. they said i was "associated" with this person, and suspended me. there are 5 people in this same town, with the same name, and same zip code. the person they said i was "associated" with is not known to me, is not related to me, is not me.
i sent them all the documentation in the world... to no avail. they did finally send me the ebay user name of who they said i was "associated" with. i looked it up. that person was suspended in as i remember, 1997.
ebay takes "association" so seriously... well, i guess i do now as well.
i had near perfect feedback...1 negative from a jerk who was beyond rude and arrogant. my bill was paid. all positives were very glowing. ebay took the monthly statement payment out of my account, and suspended me the next day, did not refund or credit the moneys for the listings they cancelled, and now sends the non-refunded balance to a collection agency because i refuse to pay listing fees for auctions they cancelled. all this because "in their opinion", i am "associated" with someone else.
now, perhaps my stance will make sense to you.
and again, i wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying. |

I think there are a lot of ebay sellers here. I have never had any problems with ebay and none with paypal. I got screwed by a member of paypal and paypal did what they could to help. I think everyone is welcome here and that everyone will do what they can to help each other. I also feel that ebay
has the resources to promote their stores and some of the smaller sites need outside help. That is why I think that the resources here would be better used helping the sites without mega-million dollar budgets. |

This really is a tough one, isn't it?
We're all 100% in favor of supporting sellers.
My line is in the sand because of 'Bay's position in the market. Even people who've never been online have, heard of 'Bay.
My feeling is that by leaving 'Bay out of the choices, people are exposed to other venues.
I'll hazard a guess here, I'd bet that if you asked 60% of consumers, those who have never sold an item online, they'd be hard pressed to name 3 auction venues.
Of course, it's not likely that buyers are going to come to this site and access the store fronts, either. But sellers will. If there are plenty of venues beyond 'Bay, perhaps they'll find one, or some, appealing and support the site site with listings.
Shopping at 'Bay is easy, but why make it a first choice? This year, when I haven't been able to find certain things elsewhere, I've purchased there.
I'd like to see sites continue to suppport the smaller/newer venues by omitting 'Bay. This might help people expand their horizons and help put a chink in the monopoly. |

I'm out from behind the couch and am happy to be so...I gotta permanent kink in my knee from being "low" for so long!
OV - so sorry for your experience. Agree - you're not alone in your story...Like most large corps. the bay has lost site of customer service; it's unfortunate they lost you and countless others over IT!!
I'm glad to know we're united in our efforts - supporting sellers. I do also look at every venue first (for a purchase) before I go to the bay. I do this in support of the buyers, knowing full well they wil get more return for their effort due to the fees @ bay. I'm hopeful that over time, my need to buy at the bay decreases for sure. This choice is to support sellers tho - not drive business away from the bay.
Great thoughts, great dialogue and an affirmation of our unity!!! Go forth and sell all - and be sure to buy too!!! :D :D |
