Has anybody received any emails recently from Google Base for a correction in their display names in Google Product Search (Shopping). I received two, one for my web page and one for Bonanzle.
It doesn't say exactly what they didn't like, but with my web site I believe it was that my store name was longer than 20 characters. I went ahead and shortened it.
I have no idea what they didn't like about my Bonanzle display name. For some reason it was the beginning of my email. I went ahead and changed it to my store name. I hope they like that.

Just out of curiosity I checked how my display name was showing up for ecrater. It used to say ecrater but now says my ecrater store name. eCrater must have went ahead and made the changes themselves.

Several have received that same email on bisi, and we thought maybe it was a glitch.? I haven't done anything with it, wouldn't know where to start. My name is not longer than 20 characters, so I don't understand why they sent it. Maybe someone will come along, and give us some advise on what to do. They also said that if I didn't change it, they would. Lin

I got one too. And came here specifically to see if anyone else had gotten it.

I forwarded mine to my tech.

After reading this, I'm wondering if its the way the display is altogether... www.sitename.cm/user/itemdetails or such?

Because I have no idea either what they are talking about.

I got one for having Antix at Bonanzle in my name; however, my Antix@Atomic Mall did not get the warning. Possibly the way it was listed as it says there can be no Advertisement in the name or no All Capital letters. Something to look at anyway. :D

I got that letter about a month ago and had to change something. Problem was I don't remember what I had to change now. Seems to me I either had to take OUT the "@###.com" part of my name OR add it. It had to match something else on the site.

But I do know the letter didn't make much sense or explain WHAT the problem was. Just said there WAS a problem.

You know it's always easier to fix something if you know what it is you are supposed to fix.

Like take your car into the dealer and just tell them to "fix it" and then walk away without saying anything else. Good luck having anything done on the car.

Why do these idiotic computer / internet companies think they don't have to tell us WHAT the problem is ?? Especially when they change the rules every time we turn around.

Yeah, I got one too! I don't get it! If they are really going to start an auction something or another, perhaps that has something to do with it. dunno!

I just took the "at Bonanzle' off and I guess I'll see if that is a fix or not. :D

I know several people that got it. Some have PSU websites and some have other types. SO far, not a single one of us has figured out what the heck Google wants us to do.

I got one yesterday too. Sent an email to the link at the bottom for clarification on what name I should use. That generated an auto reply we got your email.

Tonight I received the exact same original letter again.

I am gathering that they only want proper names with no / . or , and one capital letter in the front if you have to.

"Joe at ecrater' is not allowed anymore. It has to be just Joe or joe. Same with other websites and sales venues. I believe they are considering this advertisement now. Of course you can always buy adwords for your listings.

Anything for a buck, huh? I'm getting just as sick of google as I am of eBay.
