I'm with DaLizardsLair - I now give phone number, and state in my ad that all emails will be deleted.
I usually post the 4 picture limit so, the interested parties can have a good look before they call.
I also don't let anyone come to the house, I always meet them somewhere in my area, like the kangroo parking lot. I do this only because I live in a out in the woods, and I'm home during the day by myself. Most of my items are small enough that it's not a problem.
I have sold a lot, but CL can be a real pain. |

A simple way to meet people is have them meet you at the local police station. It tends to cut way back on any possible problems.
And in my area, the local police has always been willing to witness my transactions. I've even picked up new business this way. |

| Once I changed to adding my phone number, I actually received a lot more interest in whatever I list on CL. People are really into texting, not so much calling. Plus I clearly state CASH Only! |

| Yup...cash only! I sold a camper a few weeks back, and they wanted to pay by check...I said sure! Camper stays here, Title stays here, if the check don't clear I hand it to the sheriff.....an hour later they came back with cash! |

It seems no matter what you do your going to get spamed on CL I posted several items linked to a place where I sell with the words contact me through there, responses from cl's will be deleted and un read and it doesn't matter they just spam you anyway and cl does nothing about it even if you report it and taking the time to report it to the IP carrier is another waste of time
what was once a good tool to help generate sales is now useless jmho |
