Very well said and agree, Moonwishes!
Seems to me SEO tweaking, marketing, other means of advertising, multiple strategies, etc is the important ingredients no matter where one lists their items.
There is always a buyer somewhere with the funds to purchase be it a good or bad economy. It's a matter of getting their item of interest in front of them while building a trust in purchasing it from you. |

As a small online and a large local seller I learned a long time ago to diversify. That way, depending on which way the local or online economy swings, I'll hopefully have something a buyer needs or wants.
My local friends who sell at local/live events as I do tend to keep with the same ole products and don't try new items for the current market. These same seller friends are now looking to get out of the selling business which is sad IMHO.
If wishing to listen and or read the current business news it sounds as if we'll all be living off Uncle Sam soon YET there are many who see this as an opportunity to invest in new merchandise and expand their business for the future. |

Thanks Elgato!
Although still have some of the old, I continuously list other type products and items, allocate time to other venue expansions and try to try new marketing strategies.
Sure don't plan nor count-on "living off Uncle Sam" soon nor anytime, for that matter, as you mentioned above that the news may imply.
More and continued success to us all ! |

Hi Doulcefrance,

I stopped selling on eBay end-Nobember 2008. Fees were killing my business.
I started listing on www.delcampe.net & www.delcampe.com about 7 weeks ago - no listing fees.
I sell stamps and everything related to philately.
I made 27 sales so far, worth over $600.00
Not much, but I'm starting to get some recognition on Delcampe and am hopefull.
On www.delcampe.net there are almost 22 million listings, way over 500,000 items sold every month.
Delcampe has been around since 2001.
They operates in 6 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch - both auctions and fixed prices.
They are one of the biggest sites around, but for some reason, they are not recognized by PSU.
The US site is www.delcampe.com
Indeed, to be successfull on our site, you need to get feedbacks and feedbacks... as many feedbacks as much credible you are ;-)
I wish you great success !

after seeing that the article was from a newspaper, its no mater they put that headline on it. anyhow, any idea which genre of eCommerce sites will feel the little pinch?
plus, CNN reported today that jobless rates are slowing down and the stock market is predicted to have a good day today (friday). that may put people in a better mood and they may buy more now? |
