|
|
Someone here posted a link to the Google Base software, which is called Google Base Store Connector. I was quite delighted with it, since it seems a whole lot easier to use than submitting items one at a time through Base, which isn't happening when we have over 6,000 items.
Anyway, so it connected just fine to my eBay store. It downloaded all of my items that I had up at the moment. It took a long time to do this, but that was okay.
Then came submission time. Error.
I tried again. Error.
Error says that it's because there are no shipping attributes.
Well... duh.... eBay's been forcing us to use free shipping for most of our stuff in order to get better search placement, so... yeah.
So. How do I fix this?
I went into my Google Base account and played with Shipping, tried to make a shipping chart (but it wanted weights.... not sure, should I go with 'free shipping' ?)
But then it says I must have weight attributes on the items. There is no way I can see to edit the list the program imported, in order to add anything at all.
Has anyone here had success in working with this program and their eBay store? Thanks in advance. |

Sometime in the last couple months I read around here that eBay broke the Store Connector functions. If anyone is currently using it successfully, they might be discussing it on the eBay forums.
Maybe setting the shipping as fixed rate for an amount of $0.00 might work? |

Google Base Store Connector connectivity with eBay Stores has been broken for two weeks now.
Apparently Google is aware of the problem and is said to be working on a fix, but knowing how long it took last time it might be some more weeks...
You should check this thread on the Google Base forums for more info.
In the meantime also eBay's Google Base specific feeds get rejected by Google Base, so right now we have no way of getting our eBay items on Google Base... |

It's always been broken one way or another. The only real solution is to NOT rely on eBay or the eBay-dependent store connector, both of which suffer from a fundamental flaw: they treat eBay listings an inventory database. That will never work well.
Presumably anyone with a larger number of items has some sort of database already and lists to eBay from the database. It may even be an on-line service like Channel Advisor, but it's still a database. The solution to all of these problems is to build the Google Base data feed from the database, not from eBay. There is absolutely no advantage on Google Products for the feed to come from eBay. |

I have in the past been successful at updating and keeping the xml file to Google, but it is very time consuming.
When the store connector was mentioned, was this only in reference to Ebay?
Also when I see bulk upload API information on the Google site I am totally lost since I am not a programmer - is there software that will generate a bulk upload?
There was a post that mentioned software, but I could not find the link they were referring to.
Why does this have to be so difficult? Mary |

Surely! Anything that will do a tab-delimited or comma delimited export will generate a bulk upload data feed. Forget about the API; all you need are the column headings and an export.
