More and more people have gotten hip to the power of Craigslist. Here's what you need to know to get the most out of this site, as a buyer or a seller.
Craigslist, the online classifieds site that has all but destroyed its print brethren, has blasted past MySpace to become the number one Web search term in the United States. That means more and more people have gotten hip to the site's expansive resources.
Almost entirely text-based, Craigslist is one of the simplest sites on the Net: Anyone can find what they're looking for with a few clicks of the mouse. But with the help of a few advanced tricks and tools, you can cut through the clutter and discover precisely what's available, all the while avoiding scams and wasteful search software. Follow our advice, and you can use Craigslist with greater efficiency--and with style.
Here are 10 tips that will make your Craigslist experience a more rewarding one:

I have had and am having a rewarding experience on craigslist. Most of my sales come from there now. I essentially have no sales on ebay anymore.
Also get many sales on my websites because of contacts from craigs. Business is still good and selling fees are almost nil. I used to pay ebay 5 or 6 hundred a month until they decided they didn't want my little money. They are going for the big bucks now. LOL |

Gotta love CL. I've had stuff listed on the "alternative"
sites for many months with little or no responses.
Listed on CL and buyer shows up and buys it ALL. |

I too have had some success with CL! I have also had some extreme low-ballers and also some angry folks who have a concern about my pricing!?
I did LoL when some local person was chastising me for a price on an object. I got the email, then went to google to 'see' and I was the lowest price -  !
So, I wrote her back and shared my research and she replied cussing at me...
I had to LoL at that!! I sold the item - not to her tho!! :P |

Looking at the tips in this article, I still can't see
the advantage to using search sites/programs outside
of Craigs.
The Craigs search is fast and simple. Easy to pinpoint
whatever you're shopping for in your city.
The "alternative" sites should take a look at the
simplicity of listing and shopping on CL.
I still havn't found a site that is a big improvement
over eBay's time consuming process for listing items.
Still looking for a CL style site that allows local AND
mail order sales. |

Register, find the nearest city to your location, then post something for sale. DO NOT give out your phone# or address, just your email address so an interested buyer can contact you.
Good luck! |

You do not have to put your email in your post/listing as CL will transfer any emails to you that reply to your listing without anyone initially having your email addy.
As with any online site use common sense especially if you have purchasers come to your home. I have only had very nice people purchase from me off of CL but one still needs to be careful.
I personally love CL for both buying and selling in my area. |

Love CL for selling the kids clothes & toys. Sold the hamster cage & bought a ferret there. I really enjoy it.
Got a lot of job leads off of it too!! |

I love CL for finding items to sell. So many sellers who have their items overpriced, end up calling me when they don't get any sales.
But as opposed to the others, I don't let people email me, since I don't care for all the spam. I give people a phone number they can reach me at instead and the hours I'll be there. |
