I had learned this the hard way as well as a buyer. And the only protection that we now have when purchasing and paying through PayPal is to use our Credit Card that is on file with PayPal. This way you can do a charge back.

PayPal has new rules and regulations now and I ran into a situation where I didn't get what I ordered. As long as there is a DC or tracking showing that you received your item the buyer will loose most all the time now.

So what we need to do as buyers is when paying through PayPal, do not pay through existing funds in your account. There is a button to click on so that you can pay through your Credit Card on file.

I had spoke with PayPal and they suggested that I do it this way as well.

Hope this helps.

Hey Bays, you crack me up. Displaying a banner for Sellers helping sellers then backing up the buyers. Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Most buyers (90%) are perfect and honest people to deal with. The other 10% are scam buyers and during the year all you need is 2 or 3 scam buyers to hit and you'll start thinking about what the sellers have to put up with more than what the buyers have to put up with.

Most buyers can avoid bad sellers by doing a few simply things. I buy from the auction sites also and have made a few purchases over $150.00 and I feared for my money also and what I was going to get. Even the smaller amounts of money I sent out I kinda worried about but all went well.

This thread is about what sellers are experiancing and not buyers. Hell, I get my arse jumped on for changing the topic so now I'm going to jump on some arse (Even though I could care less) Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! At least the topic title pointed to sellers and no buyers.

Here is Ebay's new rules for complaints. Looks like someone's bit_ch'in fell on deaf ears. Ebay's taking the disputes away from Paypal. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Wonder if that damn "Buyer Protection" is going to get dumped. It's the buyer protection that fuels the scam buyers and keeps 'em coming.

eBay Resolutions. We are introducing a new, more efficient dispute resolution process for when buyers claim an item was not received or the item they received was different than described in the listing. The goals of the new process are to keep buyers on eBay by giving them a more familiar eCommerce resolution experience, and to reduce the time buyers and sellers spend resolving issues.

Direct communication between buyers and sellers will continue to be strongly encouraged. With the new process, buyers and sellers will also have an option to call eBay. We'll be taking a more active role, and in certain cases when we determine the seller was not at fault we may refund the buyer at our own expense.

Beginning in the second quarter of 2009, we will start directing eBay buyers to resolve disputes on eBay instead of on PayPal. Until this transition is complete, both the current PayPal and new eBay processes will be in place, so sellers will need to continue to monitor the PayPal resolution center as well as incoming communication from eBay.

We are gradually transitioning the dispute process, and anticipate that the change will be complete before the holiday 2009 selling season. Once complete, the new on-eBay resolution process, backed by eBay customer support, will serve as the primary entry point for buyers who are unable to resolve disputes directly with eBay sellers.

Later this year, we'll also announce improvements to the process for resolving seller claims of unpaid items—improvements designed to help you sell more efficiently and profitably on eBay. See FAQs for more details.

I know it! That could look pretty darn funny, however I am a buyer as well and as a buyer I lost because the seller sent an item even if it was the wrong item, she had proof of DC so I lost. If you purchase off of eBay and the seller has a DC that is all PayPal requires. I had talked to PayPal about this and they did tell me that since I purchased off eBay they couldn't help me. The purchase was from an Alt Site and I think that had something to do with it.

I understand about the buying issues and the DC. And there are alot of "Shady" sellers. I know that seller did you with the DC and you're just ready to "Burst" but multiply that anger and stress about 10 times and you'll know how you feel when a scam buyer uses Paypals buyer protection and you get sent back the product you sent out in perfect condition with missing parts or broken.

I myself sell alot of stuff on Ebay and get hit with the "Scam Buyers" frequently as Not Happy and BKWBM stated is happening to them.

It's a real piss off when these scam buyers strike especially when it's a $50.00 sale or more. It's even worst when scam buyers strike 4 or 5 times in a month as I had happen last year before the Ebays no feedback rule took affect.

I'll think about the DC thing awhile and see if I can come up with a fix for that. I laid it on Paypal a few times in emails and the last email I sent Paypal triggered the light bulb to go off in my head and I came up with a fix for my problem with the scam buyers taking parts and using Paypals buyer protection to get a refund and then sending me back junk. Hopefully the auction site and the Payment site I sent it to will install it and give it a test run soon.

I'll think about that DC thing some. Gotta be a way to combat it. I don't have any doubt that one day I might buy something and get scammed by a seller. I usually do my homework before I make the purchase and so far all my purchases have been good ones and a pleasant experiance.

I only had a few so far and I lose money every time the shipping charges get refunded on an item that I know I sent out in good condition and the product I sent out comes back missing parts.

It's Paypals buyer protection program that's the trouble. You can't tell Paypal nothing because their only concern is keeping buyers using their service so sellers have to use them as a payment option so Paypal can collect the fee's.

Paypal and other payment services make decisions based on how bad the problem is, and for certain sellers (like me and the 2 other PSU members) the problem may be constant whereas most sellers that only peddle drop shipped items, trinkets, makeup and gift shop stuff may not have the problem so Paypal just lets it go because out of the millions of dollars they are making a few sellers that get screwed over by buyers isn't enough of a problem to take action against. Same thing on the Ebay side.

Ebay's suppost to be taking over the buyer/seller resolution so we'll see what happens.

I've already started some methods to combat this problem but that will take along, long time to see if its effective or not.

Anyone who is considering using Paypal and Paypal's Mastercard backed debit card, PLEASE THINK TWICE!!! I recently had someone skim my card and steal over $1200 from my Paypal account. I contacted Paypal and filed the necessary dispute forms only to receive an email from Paypal saying "Sorry, we are unable to assist you in the recovery of the transactions".

This despite having filed a police report locally towards the vendor I know skimmed the card and distributed its information online.

Nothing is worse than spending a ton of money with a company who vows to protect you as a customer, then does absolutely nothing when you actually need help. Now, instead of relying on Paypal to help me recover my money, I have to call all these vendors myself and attempt to get these transactions cancelled. Some vendors have no information, phone, or way of contact.

Thanks Paypal - you are a flaming pile of sh*t!!!! and you will not receive any more of my money for this horrible customer service and lack of effort when one of your customers is in trouble!!!!
