I'm wondering, has anyone seen a surge in sale via their website, ebay any other selling site? I noticed, since the mention of the Craigslist murder guy that people must be using caution when shopping on CL.
This incident was isolated to the erotic board or wanted something but I am affraid of my own shadow and I am not selling or picking up anything. I never liked the idea anyways so I never did it. Its jut a little creepy for someone to show up at your house. Even if you meet the person someplace, they could get your tag number follow you, they know what you look like. Its toooooo many crazies out now. I know I am super paranoid after being a victim of a ex boyfriend trying to kill us in a car by wrapping it around a pole.
On a lighter note, sales have surged...I ain't complaining but I am wondering if that has something to do with it. |

| I've never used CraigsList, but I'm sure you're right. How could something like this not affect their business? Most people will not be taking chances now that something bad is known to have happened. |

| I use craigslist quite a bit. I have 4 Dogs and a husband with a Shotgun for people who pick up at our house. I always take my Pitbull named Shadow with me if I deliver to someone away from home. He is a real kitten until you threaten a family member, then you better Watch Out!!!!! |

| No problems here. For smaller items I just meet the person in a public place. Craigslist needs to do away with the "erotic" section - it's just asking for trouble IMHO - |

I agree on the CL erotica section. I didn't even know it was there until a recent TV show told me. And - I've been on/using CL for a few years - off/on.
I've not seen a huge influx of sales on other sites that I can attribute to this. I've had steadily increasing sales on the sites I use, with no 'blip' - just going up on their own curve.
I tend to deliver items, and that has worked for me. I would prefer to NOT have folks come by - but then what....we all become too uncomfortable in our own world/neighborhoods to even host/go to garage sales?
It is a shame our world is what it is - but ... I don't want to live in perpetual fear of what will or can happen next... |

It is probably likely that more people are checking out CL due to the fact that if they didn't already know about the site they want to see it.
Kind of like diving by an accident scene for some where they are glad they were not a participant in the crash but can't help but look as they go by anyway.
On CL as with any site that helps you buy/sell it is always good to use common sense- even caution. But I wouldn't let it paralyze you. |
