???
Are you saying OP made up this report, faked an SEC filing? Did you read BV's past filings (most of them delayed) from the last few years?
You don't know dimview? LOL - maybe you should try and read his reports, not only about BV. He does weekly sell-through-rates and statistics for every major auction site - since many years.
I'd say it's rather YOU who should be ignored if you have so little insight.
But thanks for the nice chuckle you gave me! :) |

If one thing Dimview is good on is what he does. And believe it or not!! He is usually right on the money. And I believe that is what bothers those on Bidville. |

Ahem..
I respect all opinions posted here, and feel if a registered user of psunite wishes to report stats on a site they should be able to without being made into some sort of comunists LOL
I personally do not have the time to keep up with stats for any site but DO respect those who have the capabilites to do so....It amazes me what type of information can be brought up, by a mere click nowadays...
BV is attempting to make a comeback after suffering a lot of bad press and stock downfalls...
Let's take a breath, realize what time of the year it is (Holidays) and allow all users to post (related) information pertaining to auction sites...
Thank you dimview for the OP and let's all hope things can turn around for bidville.com...No one likes to see an American-based company falter...Just take a look at lunarbid.com....

You know what? Elgato is completely correct. And such a gentleman! Dimview has posted factual data & there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm going to attempt to edit my post (gonna see if I can figure out how first... ) to remove my junk.
If I'm not able to, and even if I am, I extend my personal and professional apology to Dimview. Facts are facts.
And in the same spirit Dim, I do invite you to become a part of the solution. As your post states, there is no ready cash at hand for advertising of the scope required. What types of low-cost strategies might you or others recommend?
Froogle feeds and Google Base feeds are givens, what else might there be?
Anyone? Dim?
Off to try to right a wrong....

The only one doing the bashing here is you. This person stated facts and you respond by insulting them personally, that's disgusting. You're always cheerleading and bashing those who pose an adversary view. Take after Sylvia and be a respectable supporter of Bidville. Stop being childish and immature. |

I'm afraid there are no easy answers.
Take another look at Bidville's 10Q report for 3Q2005.
Total revenues were $26,391.
Now Bidville has some 400 stores, each paying five bucks a month, so that's around $6,000 in revenue on the quarter.
That leaves the auctionsite generating $20,391.
Divide that by its 1,000,000 registered users.
Each registered user is responsible for $0.02 in revenue.
Divide that by 0.05.
Each registered user is responsible for $0.41 in transaction volume.
Why so low?

That was the short answer & the correct one. Bidville & all the start ups are dealing with this one.
And then your bad self puts down some more # games. Insert Gomer Pyle voice --- > "For SHAME, For SHAME" I'm not picking up what you're putting down, hun.
Please, then...produce for me the transaction volumes for Ebay, Yahoo (LOL), and Overstock (who, of course HAVE advertising budgets and are apples to our oranges). That would round out the top 5 sites on PSU's Auction Site Count List. Just for grins. Then for a smile or two, add me OnlineAuctions, TheAuctionMan, Ioffer & Bidchaser---4 other sites with their own followings. Now we have a fruit basket of comparisons to make. Rather than one site, whom you find sport in disecting quarterly reports.
Now, I'm not saying your data is incorrect. But I'm disappointed rather that you prefer to post *only* the negative perspectives. Why not discuss the positive, ponder the changes, wonder about the future?
WHAT IF? I started posting all the wonderful, glowy statistics, reports, articles or whatever that I could find about eBay & Overstock? Aside from being tarred & feathered here, LMAO  . Most would realize that I was being one sided.
I'm not closing my eyes to the bad, I'm trying to focus on the good. I'm running a business. Sales are good. I would LOVE to see sales at Bidville improve. Just because. :D
Quote: › docWrite("quote")Nine Months Ended September 30, 2005 and 2004
The Company reported a net loss of $(2,033,242), or $(0.05) per share, compared with a net loss of $(5,891,005), or $(0.18) per share in the prior year. The decreased loss per share for the nine-month period resulted primarily from decreased non-cash stock compensation as discussed below. During the same period, net revenues derived from the Company's on-line auction site grew over 90% to $97,362 during the period up from $51,056 in the prior year.
(Bolding is mine.)
Best wishes,
sylvia
