How manipulatable are these stores in regards to search engine optimization?

I am in the process of getting my inventory ready to list and take the plunge in to an online store--- really looking forward to it.

All I can say is google loves good original content. I have articles about gardening because I sale plants. It has taken about 2 1/2 years but I broke 10,000 unique visitors last month.

And congrats on your visitors! Your unique articles are what drove those numbers I'm sure.

Good for you! :D

I don't think creating original articles in my niche is as easy as it would be for gardening. At least the main niche I am going in to, I think our secondary site will do better (when we get there)

The point with the articles was (I think), that if you go to a niche site, it's kind of neat to see information that deals directly with the products you're interested in... articles that perhaps explain how to use a product, what differentiates certain similar products from others, etc., etc.

Stuff like that can add interest, and perhaps cause cause folks to "stick around" a site longer than they might have otherwise.

Home Depot offers in-store gatherings on "how to do stuff", that deals with the products they sell. Maybe educating visitors about products offered is a good thing.

I'm thinking that any site that sells products might be able to capitalize on ideas such as these.

What's your niche (sorry if I missed it)?

Hey Rick!

I believe the PSU stores are Joomla carts. You might want to check out the Joomla forums for a answer or two to your question.

Here's a thread I picked up with a google search:

Personally, I'm a Zen cart addict. SEO is easy with ZEN - your categories become your meta tags for the site and you can customize meta tags for each product from within the admin panel.

I could go on, but I'll spare you
