First you gotta wring their necks...

THEN you get to the plucking.

LOL...I can't remember how old I was when I finally told my Mom that. Now I buy them off my brother or out of the grocery. :-)

Facebook has been in the news lately for several problems with security of personal information. This does not bode well for their ability to handle my money. I do have a Facebook account, but I've been seriously considering deleting it (which I understand is NOT easy to do).

I'm pretty shady on Facebook also. I just don't like the idea of personal information being everywhere. I feel like I'm leaving a trail of breadcrumbs all over the place - not to find my way back , but so others can follow me - everywhere. Getting a bit annoyed with it.

I "deactivated" my facebook account, but I was not able find a way to actually delete it.

Well, I set up my facebook account a long time ago. My methodology is to set up an account w/a service as soon as it shows up on my radar and forget about it - if it later blossoms into an Internet craze, then I'll go back and start using it.

Most accounts, whether for social networking, business, or support forums remain pretty much dormant, but some systems become prominent enough for me to take a second look and actively begin using them.

When I actually started using my facebook account, it was because my high school 30th reunion committee chose it as a "Free" place where we could all gather - and it was excellent for that. Now we're all in touch, and I've *purposed* my FB account for just that.

I suppose I should consider setting up another FB account just for my business interests, in preparation for their new checkout system which will eventually luanch, since I typically don't like to mix my apples and oranges.

Relevant article, ''Los Angeles Times'', Sunday, August 16, 2009. Business Section, Page 1; ''It's getting hard to hide in cyberspace ~Your private life is easily searched -- so be careful'', continued on B4.

Google your name at snitch.name. And Google, natch. Make a political contribution: Huffington FundRace2008 probably has it. Buy/sell a house: blockshopper.com. Court cases are public record. . .

''And there thousands of online communities such as Facebook and Twitter, where users supply the personal information themselves. . . The moment information is openly accessible online, it can be--and often is--copied from one site to another...''

Nope, no facebook here.

Nor a MySpace or a Twitter or any of that other stuff I don't easily understand.
