This is hands down one of the best add-ons I have ever gotten for Firefox. It's called Adblock Plus and it gets rid of the annoying ads and flashy things you hate.
You can even customize what it blocks. If someone has a flashy siggy that gives you seizures while you are trying to read a thread you can get rid of it! Keep the good stuff get rid of the bad.
It also gets rid of most ads in free email clients.
If you are on a site that you don't want adblock to block things then you can set it to allow that page or that whole website. You are in control of what is blocked or not!

Here is another very good one which protects from usually not deletable LSO's. It blocks longterm tracking on Google, YouTube, Ebay and many other domains.
Get rid of those Super Cookies! It's called Better Privacy.

| Ad block Plus is awesome. It will even let you block those banner ads on web pages that are large and slow down your computer. |

There is one problem with AdBlock Plus.
At Blujay, sellers have found that while they had ABP turned on, the buttons on the listing form, to submit an ad disappeared.
Not sure if this is a problem anywhere else though. |

| Oh yeah, good warning. Beware of what you block, it will disappear. Can be undone but I haven't figured that out yet. |

Go up to the red ABP symbol up top by your address bar. If you click on the down arrow right next to it you will get a drop down menu. You can unblock the whole page or the entire website. You can also go to preferences and you can individually "unlock" any of the items you want back. I've been using it for a little over a month now and it's really user friendly after you click around in it a bit. |

| I use APB. Got tired of that awful looking wenie dog on the ebay pages. I have had it about 2 months and it hasn't caused any trouble yet. |
