Hi,

I'm thinking about opening up a store at Bidville and was hoping to hear from Sylvia or others that currently have a store. Are the store traffic numbers higher? About equal? Something else I've wondered is do you still get views on the auctions or do people bypass those in favor of the store? And how's the store management, pretty easy/hard to work with? Thanks in advance for the help, I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Hi CJ!

Thanks for posting! Was feeling rather lonely! lol Not to mention bored with listing. *yawn*

I like the Bidville Store for these reasons:

1. Free gallery with the listings, as opposed to the auction side where the gallery pics are .10 (although that's still a bargain, until you have hundreds of listings).

2. Easy to list with the Bidville Express Loader to the Store. The Express Loader also allows you to convert those listings to auction listings if you want. Since I am a catalog seller, I list the same items on both sides---auctions & stores.

3. The store is very easy to manage. There's an inventory section where you can manage your inventory & even see how many hits each item is getting. You can see which items are low in stock & need to be replenished.

Store & auction traffic seems to be about equal for me. When promoting, I tend to use my store link so anyone clicking on my link enters there. I do see that more end up buying on the auction side though. Go figure! It perplexes me because I list my "auctions" as Take-It-Now's. LOL! Same difference, but TRUST ME, I don't care how they buy...I'm just tickled when they do. :D

Leave it to me to be the first one, but I was already here. LMAO! Hopefully someone else with a BV store will stop in soon. Ask around at Bidville too...in the Bidville stores thread.

Best wishes for super sales!

I've had my store open a little over a year and could'nt be happier with it. Like Sylvia said, unlimited gallery pics for your standard payment of 5$ per month. I have almost 8,000 cards in my store and all are in the gallery. Now think of that on the auction side at .10 each.
The store has a nice feature that if you are on vacation, you can just shut the door until you come back.
When someone does a search within your store, it will bring up all auction items as well as store items.
Very simple one page listing form for a store item.
Store items are now being fed to the Google base.
As opposed to auctions, the store keeps all records for you. I have clickable records for all sales ever made from the store.

I rarely list auction items anymore because of the ease and viewability of store items.

My totals from 1 year being open are around 2,500 cards sold

Well it sure sounds like you should definitely be running a Bidville store.

I certainly won't quibble that Bidville opened with "nearly 500 storefronts" a year ago and has just over 400 of them today.

At five bucks a month that works out to just sixty bucks a year.

I'm sure you'll sell $1,200 worth a stuff in the next year and if you do that's equivalent to a paltry 10% final value fee. If you sell $600 worth of stuff that's equivalent to a 15% final value fee. And if you only sell $300 worth of stuff that's equivalent to a 25% final value fee. Ain't bad at all.

I say go for it!

Thank you, Sylvia and Tail Cards Seller, for the great information - that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm not sure of how to use the bulk loader, Sylvia, I may be bothering you again for help with that! Thanks again to both of you.

Dimview, my original post didn't ask anything about statistical data. I'm sorry that you felt it necessary to add that since it didn't offer any answers to the questions that I asked. Since it looks like this topic is going to be steered towards becoming a locked thread again, I'll no longer be posting in it.

Nothing can come close to a bidville store, anywhere, any site.
Low cost, ease of handling, make your own sub-categories.
The best. $5 a month up front for a basic store, feature it and the cost is only $10 a month, gllery included. All records kept for you there, unbelieveably great.
I do not care if I make any sales, yup, only $60 a year to get your own store onto froogle and your name out there.
Cheap advertising for you.

CJ,

Glad you got the info you needed. Just ask any time about the bulk loader. As with any software, it can be intimidating when you first download it and start using it. But once you start using it...you won't want to stop. It's a flexible enough tool to work with you at your comfort level.

Regardless of the dimness, the store is a great value. Unlimited gallery pictures, inventory and sales management, counter views on the inventory pages, ability to change color themes, use your own logo. Feepay could learn a few things. Took me two days to set up my feepay store! LOL

Have a great day & please don't feel that you have to stop posting here. We'd miss you.

Gee, I feel like Rodney Dangerfield — "I don't get no respect."

I recommended a Bidville store and still they whine.

Quite an agenda you folks have going there.

dimview; Looks like you get the respect you deserve.

You make a lot of petty comments wherever you post.

What is it that you are for? Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Any recommendations for sites that you prefer over Bidville?

Dimview:

I don't have an agenda other than to be able to have a constructive discussion without someone jumping in to derail it. If you were actually recommending a store, common courtesy would tell you that words such as "paltry" sends the message that you are being sarcastic. You've made it quite clear how you feel about Bidville and there's no need to continue venting your hatred of the site to us. I'm interested in hearing how to make the site continue to work for me, not in hearing about whatever issues you have that make you dislike the site so much.

carkeehn,

Oh. I get it. Only opinions that are in lock-step with the Bidville mindset are "constructive discussion"?

contrary to what was posted above, you pay only one final success fee. It is not based on how much you sell, so disregard that false information.

dimview,

there is no hope when it comes to saying one word about BIDVILLE unless you are in the human click.

I know from experience. They accused me of spaming and even with proff they still said I was wrong, same human click. But I tried. sTUPIDLY I TRIED..........others have jsut moved on.

I found out the hard way that the human click is nice till you are on Bidville then YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BE A FOLLOWER.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To the original poster. I do not know what Bidville is doing now. But from what I have read on this post the $5 a month is a waste to me. Cards at 10 cents and sell at??? equals= ?? not much. But they may be all that person wants to make and if so that is great and I am happy for that person. I think you would be wise to study the site more. The new person running the site appears to be trying to make it a good site. May he succeed.

I was never going to post on PSU again after the last time. The human click did me in with false hood.

What ever you do may you be blessed and your sales be large.

I remember your name from the BV boards :)

I do understand very well what you are saying. Many sellers went to BV in spring, most left in a hurry, very few stayed.

BV has still no money to advertise, but maybe the new mod/admin or whatever he/she is, will do better. At least they answer complaints now and suspend most scammers rather quickly. I wish them luck, though I will definitely not list until I have seen some advertising with my own eyes.

Just interesting that the item count dropped from over 3 Mio to a mere little over 1 Mio. That means we were always right when we stated that the item count and the ACTIVE store count is highly inflated.

Where did I say a storeowner paid more than one FVF?

If a seller sells $500 worth of stuff they pay $25 in FVF, if they sell $1,000 worth of stuff they pay $50 in FVF.

Obviously, it is based on how much one sells.
