Craigslist has reportedly expanded the number of cities it offers its service in by a whopping 25%. Brad Stone with the New York Times claims to have been alerted by a spokesperson with the company on the matter.

Apparently Craiglist has added 140 new cities, including 87 in the United States, 8 in Canada, and 45 in non-North American countries.

"Among the targeted areas in the United States are dozens of small to midsize cities like Susanville, Calif. (population 18,000), Oneonta, N.Y. (13,000), and the counties of Okaloosa and Walton, Fla. (a combined 229,000.)," says Stone. "If that expansion sounds minor, consider that Craigslist also added new sites for international cities like Lucknow, India (population 2.5 million), Shenzhen, China (14 million), and New Castle, Australia, (280,000)."

Craigslist is expected to update the company's official fact sheet to list all of the included cities by the end of the month. There is not mention of the news on the company's official blog.

I know that for the Detroit area, CL now offers the ability to further break it down by county.

They have done that for the Minneapolis/ St. Paul site also although you can still look at them all if you wish.

I like it. Makes it easy to keep driving distance down when you want to in order to pick something up.

Humph! The nearest CL locale for this cat is 100 miles away :shock:

Just use the CL area closest to where you live.

I am between two larger areas that have listed CL cities and we all from my area either use one, the other or both when listing and buying.

Many of us have also been known to meet half way if it is a long distance between us.

Guess it depends on what you sell, buy and how much you want an item how far you are willing to drive.

Oh I have posted several items on CL at the nearest large cities but unfortunately those big cites don't purchase my products :lol: They're what we call "city folk"

City Folk don't buy mine necessarily either LOL but all of us Country Hayseeds :P in between their cities use their sites to sell to each other anyway.
