Congrats on the cage sale! I sold a couple items yesterday and listed a few more!
I love how there are 'self-appointed' CL police. I got a message from a user suggesting they would buy my item if it was priced lower. It was written in a manner that would suggest I was a hoodlum... *sigh*
- No offer received.
- No notice that it is brand new, and priced lower than any other exact same item using Google search.
-
I've had a few others suggest really silly things too - such as, "Why are you trying to make money? CL is for poor folks who can't shop retail..."
Anybody else get strange messages from users? |

I got a really weird message from a guy about my car seat, so I listed that on Freecycle and had a lovely grandma come pick it up.
I think I'm gonna try selling my wine rack this week. I would love to get rid of some books, but I don't know if anyone would pay for them. |

T, what kinds of books? PM me if you have Courtroom Drama or True Crime... I've read most of them on the market, but maybe you have some I've missed! |

I've had NO luck on Craigslist.
Every time I list something, I get emails from someone that wants to buy it, will send me a check with an extra $50, as soon as I cash the check to let them know and they will have their "mover" pick up the item. Naturally, they need my name, address and phone number so when can complete the sale.
I just copy and paste my "standard issue" answer:
Well, that seems like it would work OK.
BUT, I have a better idea.
How about you take that check you were going to send to me and you send it to your mover.
They can take the check to a bank and cash it.
They can then meet with me.
They give me the cash.
I give them the item.
Let me know when your mover has the cash and we can arrange a time and place to meet. In case there are any problems and I need to contact you directly, could you please reply with:
1. Your full name
2. Your mailing address be it residential or postal address
3. Your Phone Number.
I await to hear from you so we can complete the sale of the item,.
Amazingly ........ I haven't had any further contact with these buyers.
Was it something I said ?????? |

I think I have a whole box of hardback true crime/mystery sort of stuff. I went a little wacky at at auction. I'll have to go through the back room boxes. |

Hi Envirobay,
I go on Craigslist about once a week. Not to sell, to advertise. I have never thought of selling on that site. I go into as many cities as I can, not just LA, and I put in ads that read like this 'PVH is now selling on PSU. Come visit my store on PSU to get the best bargains in new, used and collectible books'. (Obviously I'm not selling on PSU-that's just for example.)
List your ad in Los Angeles, the Bronx, even in the European section.
Hint. Keep changing the wording.
Hope this helps you.
Susie at PVH
How do you do that and not get your ad pulled? I've gotten yanked several times, I'm wondering if it's another seller in my area with some kind of axe to grind with me or something. |

| But I will NEVER list a vehicle or jewelry on there again. Man, did I get some freak replies to that! I like that standard answer listed above, very diplomatic compared to my 'go away and leave me alone you stupid fraud' response. :) |

| I sold my glass fish tank with lid to a lady who was going to keep a tarantula in it. The locking clamps on it were the deal maker! |
