Google products changed their rankng algorithm in october to place large merchants like Amazon,Buy.com,Sears etc on the top instead of small sellers eventhough they have lower prices.

My sales on ecrater decreased a lot due to google product change in their ranking algorithm.

Anyone else noticed a decrease in sales ?

Unfortunately yes, however, I still am having sales. This ticks me off but what can you do? Someone said on the Ecrater forums that they are like the weather, just wait and it will change again. I believe this to be true. At least I'm making a sale or two per day right now. Hopefully, I will make more as it gets closer to Christmas.

Well, there was a big hoopla with some sellers wanting google to open their own auction site... Google has gone by way of other big biz, and forgetting the everyday people. They got rich, so the "little people" are no longer important to them.

Even my brother who is not an online seller, who even recommended google to me in the beginning as the search engine of choice, has noticed a difference in google.

We have all helped create this monster by giving away our power to it.

Google is starting to look more and more like eBay.

So far I've been lucky most of my items are still showing up on the first page. But, that could change any day now.

Geeze the search has really been refined...Not!

I did a search in Google and then in Shopping for a vintage game I added a week ago. I used a simple C/P of the title just to make sure it had been uploaded. I found it and the only other one on the internet, which was at Amazon, located on page 5. Go figure!

My eCrater items seem to be doing fine since I removed the free shipping remarks.

It won't affect vintage items as these items are unique & not much other sellers.

But if you sell common items carried by stores like walmart,Amazon etc their listings will be first in search rank.

Yep I noticed we were bumped down by Amazon and e*bay, even in some searches where we'd normally have the top spots. A short time back it seemed to be mitigated somewhat, but exorbitantly overpriced product took the top spot. I'm not sure what's going on with them.

My traffic from google products dropped basically to zero, and has adjusted to about half what it was earlier.

Hi guys,
sorry I have to reply on this... because what you guys are replying about above is exactly what I have been saying to myself for the last few months.

Ive been on the net for over 20 years so I probably see things a little differently than most of you.. but here is my take on it.

Both sites are awesome...

But getting a little to big for their own good. Support has gone down the tubes...

Try to find a help link on either site and its almost impossible to get a live person. Granted its easier on ebay than google.. but seems like they just dont care anymore.. Im not bashing them, I have used both sites for years.. infact was part of the google launch...

but what I see, is people just getting sick of the "Dont care" attitude and searching for other alternatives. The thing that most people dont realize with adsense, is that it is so expensive. We use them on a consistent basis as im sure alot of you guys do, but the thing is..... is that people are trying to make a few bucks off adsense, which is driving the prices through the roof.

It still amazes me when we do our research and see people paying $20 bucks for 1 visitor..

again im not bashing either site, as we use both... but from my oponion I think people are going to start seeking out other sites in the future to deal with where they can get more bang for there buck. Especially in todays' economy with people getting laid off and the $ getting tighter and tighter.

anyway just my 2 cents...
Thanks,
Temlawn

Oh Geez!! you must have starrted with Qlink!!

However, adsense has nothing to do with google's search, except to put content appropiate ads to the relevent keywords used in a site or item.

Evidently booting out ebay and Amazon hasn't happened yet!
I'm still seeing their items flooding Google Shopping. :(

Hello,
Nope they have been hitting our site like crazy. We can do a reverse ip check to see who is visiting our site and I was actually suprised to see how many times a day they hit our site.
Thanks,
Temlawn

Who is "they"? A reverse ip won't tell you if a visitor came from Google shopping, it will just give you the domain of the visitor. If you're looking at google domains, are you sure it isn't the several google spider robots?
