Greetings folks,
I'm a disgruntled victim of the Google regime which has essentially wiped me off the face of the earth. I'm here on PSU to vent my frustrations and to of course shamelessly promote myself.
I'm an online retailer of movie memorabilia in my first year of business. I sell on Atomic Mall, Bonanzle, eBay, and now eCrater and my own website www.dlmentertainment.com (coming soon).
I was enjoying a fair amount of sales through eBay and Atomic Mall. Bonanzle not so much. I just started with eCrater so I have no idea what waits for me there.
Has anyone else been so strongly affected by Google and their decision to change the ranking system? I went from a few sales a day on Atomic Mall in September and now I've had only 2 sales in October!?!?! Don't even get me started on Bonanzle. There's nothing but crickets in my booth.
I'm hoping eCrater bears some fruit, but once it's live, I'll be focusing the majority of my attention on my own website. I'm not going to be caught with my proverbial pants down by Google and their nonsense.
Just thought I'd share. |

Sorry to hear about your problems Derek. I am getting sales from AM and my buyers are finding me through Google still....could part of the problem be too many Google submissions for the same items? Google is cracking down on that and having items listed at multiple locations could be hindering sales as oppsed to helping them. Using eCrater and your own site would only hurt your Google exposure even more. Since Google only gives you one magic bullet for base feeds, I'd suggest using that for your own website and not using alternatives at all. It goes against conventional thinking here about putting all of ytour eggs in one basket but it seems that Google is forcing people to make a choice. You can still use different sites but using different titles, different pictures and maybe even different store names but Google seems to be looking a lot more closely and penalizing sellers who do this.
Good luck to you. |

Hey Derek,
My suggestion is if you are using multi-selling venues with the same products, use different titles and descriptions for each venue. Like Patch said, Google is cracking down on multi-feeds of the same products with same titles and descriptions. Some may look at this as a bad thing, I look at is as a good thing as you use each venue for Keyword SEO. Just thing about it, people searching for a widget, most people search it as what it is, a blue widget, but other people may search for it by "the big blue widget, the blue widget engine, blue widget download, blue widget download engine" and so on. As you can see now you have 5 more keyword phrases to build traffic by using 1 keyword phrase for each venue. |
