|
|
So I have been trying to add my products to eCrater and everything is fine until they verify the file and called it a failure.
Here is what they said: "using the bulk lister for editing. All future bulk files will be rejected."
I have no clue what so ever what they are referring too by bulk lister for editing and what about future files are being rejected?
Has anyone seen this? And if so how did they correct the file etc?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

| Are you importing listings? Or could you possibly have the same items on other venues? I would contact admin to get the low down! |

| From the looks of it, someone thinks that you're using the bulk lister to make changes to your items. |

I'm a bit confused by this apparent policy. Using a bulk lister to, in effect "batch edit" a group of listings is an extremely fast and efficient way of keeping one's inventory current. I'm not quite sure why a site would penalize users for doing so.
:?:
At AM, we not only permit it, we encourage it.

Using a bulk lister to "batch edit" a group of listings is AGAINST the rules on the site.
Don't matter if you think it's fast and effective
it's not allowed! and says so in the bulk lister rules. |

That's fine. I only wondered what the logic behind such a policy decision might be, since manually editing 1000 listings one by one would be a much higher drain on system resources than batching them all at once.
Having said that, Dimitar is free to institute any policy he wishes at his site, just as I am at mine. :)
Cheers,
Mike

Sounds like an effective way of padding the numbers.
But BigT is correct, if it is against the rules, and it is stated in the Bulklister terms of use, than the sellers can make the choice whether or not to use the bulklister or ecrater at all.
Stating that they would NEVER accept additional files is pretty harsh and backwards thinking though. Rejecting one particular feed is fine, that allows the seller to learn from mistakes, but rejecting all further feeds without reviewing them does not make any business sense at all.
This is exactly the reason that if I have any issues at all on or with ecrater, I contact Dimitri directly. I have found that is the only true way of finding out reliable information about the sites policies.

How would batch editing existing listings "pad" the numbers? They have already been factored into the listing count.

Absolutely. I'm just curious about the reasoning that went into the policy. There may very well be a perfectly legitimate rationale behind it.

Padding of the numbers:
If you can not edit what is already online, some sellers will just add new listings with the edited information, ie, different colors, sizes, prices. Depending on how much time the seller would have, they may not even remove the old ones, opting to keep those listings as they are still bringing in the traffic via google. This would inflate or pad the number of listings / pages on any site.
Keep in mind, that google adwords is ecrater's primary income. The more listings, the more pages that the adwords would appear on. It's a numbers game. With all those pages, someone is going to click on a google ad.
Each item listed is a page. Each page is worth money to ecrater.
Dimitri is potentially making close to $1000 a DAY on google ad words according to some data I have been able to dig up. Pretty good profit and very low overhead to achieve that. |

I misunderstood your point. It appeared you were arguing that using a bulk uploader to edit listings would pad the numbers.

oh no. I actually feel that EC's bulklister is too restrictive and has much more potential. But it is being held back for some reason.
I don't like the idea that your bulk listings are reviewed and approved/disapproved by "volunteer" mods, ie, your potential competition.
It should be done by Dimitri himself, or he should start hiring REAL staff that do not list on his site to assist him.

It is time for Dimitri to sell it or close up shop , because that place is being run worse then Ebay. At least there are no fees yet, but expect them soon. It is just better to totally avoid Ecrater right now. To many changes and no info or help from Ecrater. Plus I heard their google checkout integration was hacked, allowing scammers to withdraw directly from your merchants account. |
