Anyone have any info on the banner ad that's been showing all over here today -- Paily ??!!
Looks like they are a PP wannabe from the banner.
Good, Bad or otherwise ??

We'll have to contact to understand the offering as sellers. For buyers, free to remit payment. I can't find anything for those who are receiving the payments...
I know notta more beyond this! Funny tho - I also just noticed the banner today - thought I'd been missing it...  |

Yah, I looked around their site and read their user agreement. The seller agreement that is. Couldn't find anything for the "receivers" tho, even tho there is a mention of fees (for the receiver) in the seller side.
They will never get anyone to sign up if they don't have things out on their site for all to read.
I did find out they are an Israelli Company registered in Tel Aviv. That's right there on the site.
Quite the sparse site.

| I sent an email for more info -- I'll pass on any information I get. It looks legit buts needs a lot of work and questions answered. Maybe they are just advertising to get a feel of the market and their name out there. |

After a small research, I did find more on the actual company. Its on NYSE - NPX, been around since 2001. Here's some more company info.

But nothing on thier new service, "Paily." |

GW,
I hope you get some good info back from them.
If they are just "testing the water", hopefully they get a good response.
So many of us are "holding our nose" when we have to use PP and would like a good alt pay processor.
While I don't know anything about this company, I think the rep of the Israeli's for security would serve them well if they do launch a decent site.

I got this from Paily yesterday,
Quote: › docWrite("quote")Thanks for the information. At this stage, we require a minimum volume of $20,000 per month. I will make sure to update you once this changes.
If any of the other stores you want to refer to us meet this criteria, feel free to refer them to me. Our referral fee is $150 per signed account.

I would say too rich for most of us here, even the power sellers.

| If my math is right, thats $240,000 sales a year -- I wish! I heard a few ebayers hitting that mark. Maybe a year or two for me and another 10 of me cloned to keep up the shipping depatment. |

Good, bad or ugly: my opinion is, always, whenever possible, use a commerce system that is in the country of yourself and the other party, so that you both understand the same set of laws. For international orders, that of course is a problem, and in that case, size matters.
Bigger companies like PayPal are more likely to have practices in place to deal with issues in every country in which they operate, and more likely to bear the burden of credibility in the case of a complaint.
Almost anyone can set up a merchant account from a desk-top computer and call themselves a payment system. But as we can see, you have to play detective to actually deal with them. Maybe it is worth it, but who really has the time to do that? |

| Frankly, a personal check is safe enough, IMO. You don't ship until it clears, and if it is no good, you have a variety of choices about how seriously mad you want to get, because you won't have shipped the item. |

i switched to bidpay.
no bank account info shared = no bank accounts hijacked.
after all these years of the seller paying the fees...it's time to let the buyer pay it.
if they want the item, and want to pay on line... let them step up and pay it.
it has not slowed sales at all.
also, western union, the company that owns bidpay, has a lot more credibility than paypal. |

True, Western Union is in fact a solid financial payment system, except that it is designed for private $$ transsfer, not business. Knowing that they own bidpay gives me a lot more confidence in that company.
Frankly, my support for the Paypal platform is of the "better the devil we know" variety.... not blind. |

It has been my understanding that western union's mo are easy to copy or counterfeit? I don't know personally, just what I've heard.
On greedbay I always pay with a cc thru paypal so I have recourse if they try to cheat me. The only time I used a check I got shafted by the guy and I suppose I could have pursued it but didn't think it was worth the trouble and time with the amt it was. I did learn a lot however! How useless ebay was when it came to the problem being resolved . Through my own detective work I found him again under a different user id and greedbay would do nothing to help.
teapotdee, The problem with a bad personal check is most banks charge you for the check being bad, so even if you never send the item and you never get anything out of it you are still out $10. or ?? they charge you. |
